Stream Sir Michael Rocks’ New EP
Sir Michael Rocks drops his latest EP, Populair. The former Cool Kids rapper stands alone on the eight-track project. This is quite different from his album Banco, which came with features from Twista, Casey Veggies, Mac Miller and more. On Populair, Rocks flexes his creative abilities. The project is fully produced, mixed and recorded by Sir Michael himself. While speaking with Fader, Sir Michael said that he “wanted to unleash more of [his] abilities, and [he] could only achieve that by getting…deeper into the process.” Prior to today’s release (Sept. 10), Rocks dropped the Street Fighter-influenced single, “Perfect,” along with the accompanying video. He also put out the video to “Pull Up,” which is also featured on Populair. The EP starts off on a high note with “In My Mode.” The heavy bass, diverse range of instrumentals and Michael’s crazy energy set the tone for the rest of the project, which is just as multifarious. He later calls out those who aren’t about that life on “Come Outside,” speeding his bars up as he addresses “cock-blocking punks.” Skip forward and the Chicago native slows things all the way down for “Drowning in French,” a sensuous track that finds Rocks tripping pretty hard. Together, Banco and Populair combine to create Banco Populair, a node to the Spanish financial institution of the same name. If you didn’t bang with Sir Michael Rocks before today, take a listen to Populair above and that will surely change. If you’re feeling it, get your copy over on iTunes.
