This week has been full of new releases from the cream of hip-hop’s crop. Some artists are sure to get somewhat misplaced within the insanity however FKi 1st and his crew of collaborators intend on protecting the social gathering going. The five-track EP was launched right now with loads of title energy to maintain individuals intrigued till the very finish. The first providing contains 03 Greedo, who stays locked up as he serves a 20-year sentence. Of course, MadeinTYO makes an look alongside UnoTheActivist, whereas Kash Doll, Key! and Smooky MarGielaa assume characteristic duties on a couple of different tracks. 03 Greedo’s prolific run shouldn’t be this elongated. We’re witnessing an incarcerated rapper with polarizing potential release songs at the “birth rate” of a polygamous colony. Just a few weeks ago, Greedo teamed up with Nef The Pharaoh on a project benefitting the Vallejo protégé more than his mentor, but Greedo would never admit to resignation. The rate at which 31-year old Greedo surpassed his peers & made them his pupils, is simply astonishing.
On 03 Rappa, Greedo finds himself in a mentorship once again by choice. He devised itineraries for artists entering a trust relationship with his agency, for which he acts as the lead A&R, in so far as Nef, Shoreline Mafia and Rappa are willing to explore their horizons. Greedo’s collaborative album with Rappa paints him as a Gucci Mane-like character of reserved demeanor.
His willingness to sponsor talent in a selfless manner will be repaid down the road, if ever he receives a commutation on his sentence. The Free Greedo movement isn’t only a rap truism, or a T-Shirt slogan. the incarcerated rapper continues to build temples in his hometown like his empire depended on it. Those wise enough to impart a lesson speak in absolutes about Greedo’s irrevocable energy.
Enjoy 03 Rappa and however more he can muster.
Unfortunately, with such a prolific run, the occasional dud is inevitable. While both 03 and Z Money are talented rappers, their efforts on “California To Chicago” seem to be rather phoned in, which is disappointing considering the potential. Still, it’s good to see Greedo doing his best to keep his name ringing during his extensive incarceration; one can only hope he rations his material properly. The mere thought of a twenty-year sentence is enough to make one shudder, especially considering Greedo committed a non-violent offense.
True, the man has made a lot of enemies over his propensity for disrespecting some of the game’s notable names. Yet he is a talented rapper despite his blemishes, and the idea of seeing him forgotten before reaching his prime is sad to say the least. For now, it’s Free Greedo as usual, even when he is dropping off less than favorable material. What do ya’ll think?
03 Greedy finally dropped a visual treatment for his track entitled “Fortnite.” Although the remixed version of the song that features Lil Uzi Vert is the one that made the cut on God Level’s tracklist, the artist chose to shoot a clip for the OG track. The single dropped months before the release of his most recent project.
Even though the rapper only mentions the video game once in his lyrics, he built a whole music video that surrounds its themes. The visuals, directed by Azeez Alaka, channel some parts of the aesthetics found in “Fortnite,” the game, in addition to some of the graphics it includes. The rapper prowls across variations of leafy terrain, pointing a firearm wherever he pleases. When he’s on pause, the guy is posting up on concrete steps delivering his lines.
God Level, which dropped last month, is available for streaming here. 03 Greedo also linked up with Nef The Pharaoh on “Porter 2 Grape.”
The #FreeGreedo is in movement is in full effect since the Watts rapper turned himself in to authorities to serve a 20 year bid. The good news is that his lawyers have said that on good behavior, he could be out earlier but that’s not guaranteed by any means. Prior to his incarceration, the rapper locked in a whole lot of studio time to bank up on content including a few collaborations. Today, Nef The Pharoah drops his joint project with 03 Greedo, Porter 2 Grape.
03 Greedo and Nef The Pharoah bring it from Watts to Vallejo on their joint project, Porter 2 Grape. The project is only five tracks deeps but it shows the great chemistry and bond between the West Coast rappers. The two rappers bring a few friends along for the ride with ALLBLACK jumping on two tracks and Chris O’Bannon assisting on one of them. If you’re into West Coast hip hop, this is a project you should be vibing to while you head into the weekend.
Back in March, Casey Veggies teamed up with 03 Greedo for a song called “Broke,” and now today they’re back with its official video presented by No Jumper.
From the crowded parking garage to the dimly-lit studio, Casey & Greedo stunt for the cameras and kick it with a few ladies in this SamieeDotCom-directed clip above. It follows up Casey’s latest release “Mirror On The Wall.” Check it out and let us know what you think. Record available on iTunes.
In other related news, 03 Greedo just turned himself into police last week to start serving his 20-year prison sentence in Texas. The Watts, California rapper was hit with gun and drug trafficking charges from a 2016 arrest, and will now have to do his time.
