All eyes were on Tom Hanks' son, Chet Hanks, the morning after the 2020 Golden Globes, as news outlets were jumping on the trending topic of his bizarre red carpet moment. A video showed him busting out a Jamaican patois accent while he shouted "BIG UP FIMI WHOL FAMILY SOON COM AT DI AWARDS NA SEEN." A discussion about cultural appropriation inevitably followed, but Hanks emphasized that he was unfazed by any criticism. The next day, he used the accent in another video on his Instagram page, promoting a "BIG CHUNE" he just released as Something Out West.
Hanks, who uses the stage name Chet Haze, is back to torment all those who were bothered by his Jamaican alter-ego. "HOLD UP WAIT A MINUTE... YALL THOUGHT I WAS FINISHED?!?!????," he started an IG caption, referencing Meek Mill's iconic "Dreams & Nightmares (Intro)." He posted a video of himself entertaining friends at a pool party by talking about how he "no wan no mawga gyal." "Mawga" meaning meager in Jamaican patois, Hanks gives a shoutout to G-Eazy, who seems to prefer thicker women as well.
Hanks preemptively addressed the backlash that this clip was bound to attract. "AND TO ALL YOU LAMES STILL BITCHIN ABOUT APPROPRIATION PREE DIS... YALL CAN “APPROPRIATE” DEEZ NUTZ LMAOOOO," he wrote. The next post on his IG page features him sharing his thoughts on the topic in a more earnest tone.

Finally some good news.
Apparently it is quite difficult to find non-controversial or non-cancelled celebrities to host award shows these days. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey have pulled off the gig before without stepping on too many toes, so bringing them back to host the Golden Globes next year seems like a solid choice.
According to The Wrap, Poehler announced that she and Fey will be the 2021 Golden Globes hosts while doing an impersonation of Chip Sullivan, executive vice president of communications at NBC Entertainment, at Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour on Saturday morning in Pasadena, California. “There are no two funnier people anywhere,” Poehler said while channeling Sullivan.

Poehler and Fey filled these roles in 2013, 2014 and 2015, showing off the strong comedic chemistry they have built after years of collaborating. “NBC has long been the home to two of the funniest people on the planet – Tina Fey and Amy Poehler – and we didn’t want to wait any longer to share the great news that they’ll be hosting the Globes once again,” said Paul Telegdy, Chairman of NBC Entertainment.
Ricky Gervais hosted the 2020 Golden Globes last weekend. He took liberties to make some harsh jokes in his opening monologue, as he repeatedly acknowledged that it would be his last year serving as host and had no repercussions to fear.
Jay Z & Beyonce Send An Entire Case Of Ace of Spades Champagne To Reese Witherspoon
Hov & Bey surprise the “Big Little Lies” actress with the gift of gold bottles.
Ricky Gervais and Ellen Degeneres might have had some of the most polarizing moments on the 2020 Golden Globes stage this past Sunday. But it was Beyonce and Jay Z that drew the most attention from the 77th annual Golden Globe attendees this year. Not only did music’s most prominent power couple arrive at the ceremony fashionably late, the Carters also showed up with multiple bottles of their very own Armand de Brignac (Ace of Spades) champagne to the Moët-sponsored affair.
With Beyonce‘s undeniable aura and Jay Z upholding the integrity of a brand he’s fully invested in, the two took the spotlight from those in attendance without taking a single foot on stage. So much that when Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon ran out of beverages of their own they asked the duo for a glass of their champagne that runs for approximately $300 a bottle.
The exchange went viral and Reese Witherspoon took to her Instagram account to poke fun at herself by Photoshopping herself into the background of the seated couple at this past weekend’s award ceremony. Yesterday the gracious, musical couple exuded a level of class many would appreciate when they gifted Reese Witherspoon with an entire case of Ace of Spades Champagne delivered directly to her home.
Reese Witherspoon posted the surprise gift to IG story proclaiming: “I just got home from New York, and the most beautiful flowers are here and a case of Ace of Spades champagne.” A note attached from B & Hov read, “More water — Jay and Bey.”
The actress closed out the video toasting with her mother, stating “Cheers guys, thank you so much!”

2020 Olympics Blocks Political Protests: No Kneeling, Gestures, Or Armbands
The Tokyo Games begin on July 24.
At this year’s Golden Globes, host Ricky Gervais took aim at the celebrities in attendance. In his opening speech, the dark-humored comedian told his fellow famous faces to cut out all of the politics and to get on with the show. “If you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech,” he quipped. “You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world.”
That didn’t stop winner after winner from addressing issues ranging from climate change to abortion rights to the raging fires in Australia. It was clear that people with a platform are going to use it to speak on issues that they believe are important, but The International Olympic Committee (IOC) shared its three-page guidelines for the 2020 Tokyo games and they say political protests are out.
“We believe that the example we set by competing with the world’s best while living in harmony in the Olympic Village is a uniquely positive message to send to an increasingly divided world,” the IOC said in a statement, according to CBS News. “This is why it is important, on both a personal and a global level, that we keep the venues, the Olympic Village and the podium neutral and free from any form of political, religious or ethnic demonstrations.”
In the guidelines, they listed a few examples of what is considered to be a political protest. “Displaying any political messaging, including signs or armbands, gestures of a political nature, like a hand gesture or kneeling, refusal to follow the Ceremonies protocol,” they wrote. These rules come over 50 years after sprinter Tommie Smith, who won gold, and John Carlos, who won bronze, raised their fists during the medal ceremony as The Star-Spangled Banner played. Their gesture was in recognition of racial discrimination and for human rights, and they were both recently inducted into the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Hall of Fame. Meanwhile, the Tokyo Olympic Games are set to kick off on July 24.
Jay-Z & Beyoncé Send Reese Witherspoon Case Of Ace Of Spades After Golden Globes
So generous of them.
The Golden Globes on Sunday made for a star-studded event full of entertaining and scandalous moments, but the most shocking appearance of all would have to be music's biggest power couple. That's right, Jay-Z and Beyoncé decided to grace Hollywood's finest with their presence, overwhelming plenty of the stars in attendance.
Though their attendance was not completely out of the blue, since Bey was nominated for Best Original Song for "Spirit" from The Lion King, though she eventually lost to "I'm Gonna Love Me Again" from Rocketman. The duo didn't walk the red carpet, though, so they caught everyone off guard when they arrived fashionably late. They waited to take their seats until after Kate McKinnon had finished her speech introducing Carol Burnett Award for Achievement in Television recipient, Ellen Degeneres, who was at Jayoncé's table. It was then that they were caught red-handed bringing their own Ace of Spades champagne into the Moet-sponsored event, as their bodyguard, Julius, was spotted holding two bottles of the bubbly brand.
Bey and Jay not only brought their own booze, they also shared it with the surrounding guests, as well. Jennifer Anniston revealed on her Instagram story from the Globes that after her table had run out of water, her The Morning Show co-star Reese Witherspoon asked Jay and Bey for some of their champagne. Jay and Bey were happy to, and Reese even joked about the whole ordeal with some memes on her Instagram.
After word spread about the Bey and Jay's charitable move, the superstar couple naturally had to one-up themselves, so they sent over an entire case of Ace of Spades to Reese. The actress posted a video of herself opening up the generous gift, accompanied by some gorgeous flowers and a note that read, "More water, from Jay and Bey."
Reese and her mom, Betty, proceeded to pop open one of the prestigious bottles at 11:30am. "Who cares?" Reese replied when Betty asked if it's too early to drink. "It's from Jay-Z and Beyoncé." Solid logic.
Tom Hanks’ Son, Chet Haze, Drops "Big Chune" After Viral Golden Globes Moment
See what happens when you make someone go viral?
The 2020 Golden Globes on Sunday were rather tame, but at least one bizarre story was bound to come out of it and it came courtesy of Tom Hanks' son, Chet Haze. Haze was in attendance to witness his father being honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award, but he ended up attracting lots of attention to himself. While on the red carpet, the 29-year-old confusingly busted out some Jamaican patois. The Internet struggled to make sense of the clip, but mostly resorted to just making fun of it. The viral vid was edited to have Haze shouting "BIG UP FIMI WHOL FAMILY SOON COM AT DI AWARDS NA SEEN. CHUNE IN" over Drake's "War" instrumental, as Drake plays with a similar accent on the song.
As is often the case in the sorts of circumstances, Haze is now leveraging his moment of Internet fame to fuel some good old self-promotion. He actually makes music under Something Out West, a duo comprised of him and Drew Arthur. His virality provided him with the perfect opportunity to "DROP 1 BIG CHUNE PON SOUNDCLOUD", as he captioned another video of him appropriating Jamaican patois. The fact that he was blasting Popcaan in his car in the video probably led viewers to expect (and fear) that his "BIG CHUNE" would be a dancehall track, but it's actually far from it. While Haze raps on the track, titled "HARLEY", it would be more accurately described as a country-pop-rock crossover.
Haze's next post featured him thanking all the Jamaicans who showed love for his Golden Globes bit. "It’s all in good fun," he said. "I'm a goofball, but that’s one thing I’m not joking about is my love for the Jamaican people, the Jamaican culture."
Kate McKinnon Explains How She "Blew It" When Sitting Next To Beyonce At Golden Globes
She did fine.
Kate McKinnon was of course present at this past weekend’s Golden Globe Awards. The Ghostbusters actress attended the event with her sister, Emily Lynne Berthold, and the siblings were lucky enough to be seated at the same table as Beyonce and Jay-Z. The 36-year-old actress paid a visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show and explained how she messed up such a lovely situation.
Frazer Harrison/Getty Images“I mean the table that we were at — well you’re there and you are to me, everything,” Kate explained. “And then Portia [de Rossi], everything. And then we had Carol Burnett, you know, American legend. And then there was also Beyoncé and JAY-Z at the table, which, I mean, they’re the king and queen of America, they were unbelievably gracious.” Kate said she and her sister tried to plan topics to talk about but in the end, she “blew it.”
“So my sister went right over and had balls of steel and Beyoncé was so nice and I was just such a, I just pretended I had something on my pants,” she said. “So I blew it. I blew it.” We think it’s safe to say the situation wasn’t as bad as Kate thinks it is.
Zoë Kravitz & Lisa Bonet Were The Perfect Mommy/Daughter Duo At 2020 Golden Globes
"Big Little Lies" star Zoë Kravitz flexed on the red carpet with TV icon (and mom!) Lisa Bonet for the 77th Golden Globe Awards last night.
Nabbing the coveted role as Catwoman in Matt Reeves' upcoming film The Batman is sure to make Zoë Kravitz an even bigger star in Hollywood, but the 31-year-old actress let it be known that she's always had it in her blood by hitting the 2020 Golden Globes red carpet last night (Jan 5) with her equally stunning mom, Lisa Bonet.

Looking as good as she did during her days on sitcoms like The Cosby Show and A Different World over three decades ago, Lisa Bonet defied all odds of aging as she stood side-by-side with her successful daughter, who happened to be nominated alongside her Big Little Lies costars in the category for "Best Television Series: Drama." The hit HBO series unfortunately lost to another hit series on the network, Succession.
While Zoë turned heads solo dolo on the actual red carpet for the 2020 Golden Globes awards ceremony earlier in the evening (seen above), the twinning mommy/daughter duo actually wowed the crowd together at the official afterparty thrown by InStyle Magazine and Warner Bros. While Zoë did it up in a form-fitting YSL dress, Lisa decided to go a little more loose in a flowing piece by Fendi Couture. The pair was later joined by Bonet's hubby Jason Momoa, with the three taking a loving family photo together before partying the night away.

Tom Hanks’ Son Chet Hanks Will Make You Cringe With Bizarre Patois Accent
Chet Hanks went viral for the wrong reasons.
Tom Hanks became a meme last night at the Golden Globe awards with his facial expression resonating with many folks on social media. He saw his name hit trends last night after Ricky Gervais’ opening address but elsewhere, his son was off making headlines for a whole other reason.
After previously being criticized for his blatant use of the n-word in resurfaced videos from years ago, Chet Hanks is back in the headlines for some more cringe-worthy reasons. As he walked the red carpet, Tom’s son filmed a video for his socials and, for some reason, he was speaking in a (very fake) Patois accent. It’s important to note that Chet was born in Los Angeles and has no ties that would support his use of an accent from the islands.
Amy Sussman/Getty Images“Big up the whole island massive, it’s your boy Chet coming straight from the Golden Globes,” said Hanks, a white man, in his absurd accent. The post was captioned as such: “BIG UP FIMI WHOL FAMILY SOON COM AT DI AWARDS NA SEEN, CHUNE IN.” Yikes.
Tom Hanks’ son is an aspiring rapper and he’s ruffled feathers before in the past. This time around, people are just cringing hard at how he butchered his Patois accent with one fan writing, “Tom Hanks is so damn unproblematic, and yet…dis child.”
What do you think about Chet Hanks going viral last night at the Golden Globes?
Beyoncé Catches Flack For Not Standing When Joaquin Phoenix Won His Golden Globe
Not impressed or obstructive dress?
Beyoncé arrived fashionably late to the 2020 Golden Globes last night, alongside her husband, Jay-Z. They skipped out on the red carpet and walked in once the ceremony had already begun. Their bodyguard escorted them to their seats as he held two bottles of Ace of Spades champagne so they wouldn't have to drink the Moët & Chandon being poured at the event. They were seen mingling with the other celebs at their table, but many people on Twitter believe that Bey was indifferent toward the whole ordeal. She was there to pick up her gold statue if The Lion King's "Spirit" happened to win for Best Original Song (it didn't), and that was all.
The fact that she didn't stand up when Joaquin Phoenix won his award fueled this suspicion. When Phoenix won for Best Actor In a Drama Motion Picture for his role in Joker, the whole room rose, but Bey was seen comfortably seated. Some got a laugh from her head peaking out behind Phoenix when the camera showed him going to accept his trophy, but many others called her out for being disrespectful. One Twitter user claimed that her refusal to stand was "thoroughly distasteful." On the other hand, many came to Bey's defense and suggested that her dress may have made standing a difficult task for her. She wore a custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown with enormous metallic gold puffy sleeves that some argued could have been distracting or obstructive if she stood.
