Days ago, Star Wars actor John Boyega gained international attention once again after sharing an impassioned video supporting Black Lives Matter. Not only did he say he hates racists, but the British actor also implored his followers to delete him if they were either racist or justified the behaviors of the officers involved in George Floyd's death. John Boyega began trending on social media as there were mixed responses from fans, as some people supported him using his platform while others took the time to criticize him for his remarks.

As Black Lives Matter protests have begun popping up worldwide, Boyega surfaced in London at Hyde Park where he delivered a rousing, emotional speech. “Black lives have always mattered,” Boyega said to protesters. “We have always been important. We have always meant something. We have always succeeded regardless. And now is the time. I ain’t waiting…We are a physical representation of our support for George Floyd. We are a physical representation of our support for Sandra Bland. We are a physical representation of our support for Trayvon Martin. We are a physical representation of our support for Stephen Lawrence.”
“I’m speaking to you from my heart. Look, I don’t know if I’m going to have a career after this, but f*ck that," he tearfully added. “Today is about innocent people who were halfway through their process. We don’t know what George Floyd could have achieved, we don’t know what Sandra Bland could have achieved, but today we’re going to make sure that won’t be an alien thought to our young ones.”
When news of Boyega's latest speech circulated, Jordan Peele made sure to let the actor know that his career would be just fine. Someone shared photos of Boyega holding his bullhorn and Jordan Peele retweeted the message along with a caption that read, "We got you, John." Check it out below.
Jordan Peele’s "Candyman" Trailer, Official Release Date Shared
Jordan Peele’s “spiritual sequel” to 1992’s “Candyman” has a release date set and an eerie remix of Destiny’s Child’s “Say My Name.”
The Jordan Peele written and produced film, Candyman is set to officially arrive this summer with a haunting trailer for the film making its debut earlier today. With Nia DaCosta serving as the director, the film, as described by Jordan Peele, is a “spiritual sequel” to the 1992 film. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris, Vanessa A. Williams, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Colman Domingo and Tony Todd making his return as the titular character.
Similar to how Us flipped Luniz’ “I Got 5 On It” as the haunting score to the trailer, DaCosta took another 90s favorite to flip into an eerie backdrop for the first official look for the film. Needless to say, one of your favorite childhdood songs will likely be playing in the back of your bloody nightmares of the urban legend.
“I really love gore,” DaCosta told reporters on Wednesday, Variety reports. “What’s fun about working with Jordan is our horror aesthetics are different. Jordan is really brilliant at not showing everything. My instinct is to do the exact opposite. … there’s a good amount of things you don’t want to see [in the movie].” Although she didn’t say much else, the amount of gore revealed in the trailer is enough of an indication of what we can expect from the forthcoming film.
Candyman arrives on June 12th. Watch the trailer below.
Jordan Peele Sparks Spooky "Candyman" Trailer Rollout
With "Candyman" getting a brand new trailer on Thursday, Jordan Peele has decided to have a little bit of fun with the rollout.
Long before Destiny Child and Walter "Heisenberg" White were asking you to say their names, Candyman had that particular modus operandi all to himself. Deriving from the 1992 horror classic, which features a chilling score from Howard Shore and one of the most legendary horror villains in cinema history, the practice of saying Candyman's name five times in a mirror quickly became an iconic practice. So much so that Jordan Peele naturally decided to carry on tradition, what with the imminent arrival of his upcoming Candyman film getting its first trailer this Thursday.
As one of the prominent directors in modern-day horror, Peele and his Monkeypaw Production company are the perfect guides for revisiting the notorious Cabrini Green projects. Said to be a "spiritual sequel," the Nia DaCosta-directed film has already kicked off a totally on-brand and not at all scary marketing campaign. Peele himself shared the invitation Twitter, daring fans to type "Candyman" five times in order to access an exclusive clip. True, we're talking a teaser for a trailer, but it's the thought that counts.
Check out the clip below, and should you be brave enough to take up Peele's offer, get those Twitter fingers buzzing. And speaking of which, if you haven't seen the original film by now, be sure to add it to your watchlist -- especially if you consider yourself to be a horror buff. Look for Peele and DaCosta's revisitation of Candyman when it hits theatres this June.
Jordan Peele’s "Hunters" Called Out For Historical Inaccuracies
The Auschwitz Memorial isn’t feeling Jordan Peele’s “Hunters.”
The Jordan Peele-curated Amazon Prime series, Hunters, is catching some heat from the Auschwitz Memorial for a historically inaccurate depiction of an event that never actually occurred during the Holocaust, according to Variety. The show’s opening credits feature several frames from the premiere episode where Nazi soldiers played a game of chess using Jewish prisoners as chess pieces. As each chess piece is eliminated, the Jewish captives are executed on the spot.

The show about a team of American Nazi hunters originally debuted this past Friday (Feb. 21) and was almost instantaneously met with harsh criticism from the Auschwitz Memorial who took to their Twitter account to voice their displeasure with the scene, Tweeting:
“Auschwitz was full of horrible pain & suffering documented in the accounts of survivors. Inventing a fake game of human chess for @huntersonprime is not only dangerous foolishness & caricature. It also welcomes future deniers. We honor the victims by preserving factual accuracy.”
David Weil, the series’ showrunner and creator released a statement of his own this past Sunday (Feb. 24) saying, “symbolic representations provide individuals access to an emotional and symbolic reality that allows us to better understand the experiences of the Shoah.”
Weil also stated that the show “is not a documentary” and “was never purported to be.” He told Business Insider that Hunters was based on an 80-page “bible,” he created five years ago which details each characters’ backstory. Weil’s grandmother, a Holocaust survivor, was his inspiration for the show’s existence.
Hunters is currently available to watch on the Amazon Prime streaming service. Check out the trailer to the series in the video provided below.
