Ever After is rocking an especially bass heavy lineup this year, and it refuses to let anyone get in its way having a good time! The high-energy music festival is already gearing up for the event in Kitchener, Ontario over June 8-10, 2018 — but there’s one minor problem. According to a , the Kitchener City Council has been telling organizers they need to wrap up by 9 pm on Sunday night. However, the man in charge, Gabriel Mattacchione, that’s not happening. He will run Ever After through Sunday night as scheduled. “I am not going to compromise the experience 30,000...
LAXX has been one our favorites on Never Say Die since his debut on the label; after countless singles and numerous EPs over the years, the UK-born producer is now out with his debut album, Fake Friends. Aside from the album itself, the promotion for the release was actually incredibly unique and played on the typical style press releases and announcements. Posts began with faux automaton sensibilities, relaying phrases like “Album Marketing Campaign Phase One” and breaking down each phase into machine-like spoken word. The album itself, though spanning 13 tracks, clocks in at only 37 minutes, an average less...
You may know Darude for his ubiquitous track “Sandstorm.” We get it, that song will stand the test time. But, Darude puts out some great music to this today. Are his new tracks as good as “Sandstorm”? We’ll leave that to you to decide, but his latest single may just give “Sandstorm” a run for its money. Darude teams up with Ashley Wallbridge for the new track “Surrender,” a throwback to 90s trance in all its uplifting, cheesy glory. Vocalist Foux delivers some hackneyed lyrics about love and staying together, but the crisp production makes this single stand out....
Martin Garrix’s next release won’t be a Martin Garrix release at all, but an AREA21 track! The collaborative project between Garrix and rapper Maejor will reportedly be releasing their new single “Happy” next Friday, February 9, according to Twitter account @worldgarrix. Searches for “Happy” on 1001tracklists turns up zero results for AREA21, so it looks like this is a fresh track that’s never been played out before (as far as we can tell). You can check out a preview the track below. Photo
Dirtybird was hit with a curveball this morning when the inaugural Dirtybird Campout East was forced to close their gates for approximately three hours while they negotiated with residents and ficials to clear a noise violation from the previous night that was in violation their permits. Campers were left with nowhere to go except the nearest town, where they waited patiently (or not) for some ficial news. At approximately 4:45pm local time, Dirtybird said the gates were back open. Unfortunately, one the concessions for opening up again was that they were not allowed to play any music today. Addressing...
There’s a Monopoly edition literally everything. Star Wars, Nintendo, Rick and Morty, literally everything. But, parent company Hasbro must license the Monopoly brand for a new edition to be ficial. So, many counterfeit or fanmade versions Monopoly exist. The latest fanmade version Monopoly directly spos a stereotype the EDM population: wooks. Wookery, sold on , is a spin on Monopoly that pokes fun at wooks. For those who don’t know what wook means, Urban Dictionary sums it up best: “A dirty, hairy, stinky, mal-nourished, dishonest creature that ten travels in packs, with possibly and unfortunately, mangy, multi-colored dogs on...
Midsplit just crushed the game with a new Wiz Khalifa collaboration that’s super fresh and hella relatable! Working over Midsplit’s big bass and hip hop-inspired beat, Wiz cuts into a hook with some real feelings attached. We all know it’s hard to break out our comfort zone and we all experience being stuck at times. This song is about that. I’ve been hustling like every day Doing time on the grind, tryna make it pay I’m still posted on the same block Same hood, still ducking from the same cops Well, maybe we’re not all running from cops, but this...
After a few days , tweets, and , Griz has broken the silence and posted a new video. Rather than music or a tour recap or something less inspiration, Griz shared a spoken-word performance entitled “It’s About Time We Talked.” There’s little context surrounding the performance, but Griz speaks wanting to tell a story – how does a musician tell a story? They write music (or a whole album). All this screams album promotion, and if this is the kind deep and introspective content we can expect from Griz, we’re in for a real treat. Check out the video...
By some stroke luck, and probably not a small amount intense troubleshooting and lots phone calls, Dirtybird Campout East has ficially reopened. After closing the gates to entry on day 1 following noise complaints from residents nearby, the festival seems to be back open. It’s still not clear what concessions, if any, the festival has had to make to appease the city ficials, but campers should be glad to have something. Party on.
There’s a lot – a lot – new music out today, so it’ll probably take more than just today to get through all it you were really that dedicated. However, one piece new music perhaps deserves a bit extra attention because it might be the answer to a mystery we’ve been trying to unravel. In October last year, we asked the question, “” The mysterious and unknown producer made his or her debut with an ficial remix Marshmello’s “Silence,” so it had to be someone with connections, or perhaps an alias an already-known producer. The latter theory seems to be...
