Compared to the poppier productions out today from the likes of Calvin Harris or Marshmello, 1788-L is perhaps going darker and more experimental than ever with his new single “N U / V E R / K A.” The single is the second off his debut EP, SENTIENCE, out next Friday. 1788-L plays with some super intense new sound design on “N U / V E R / K A,” starting off with some profoundly atmospheric vibes in the initial build. It then drops into a heavily punctuated, dark and foreboding section that eschews any kind of strict genre classification. Already...
We’re now a week out from the release of Medasin’s introspective and personal debut album Irene. The identity of this mysterious influence on the producer’s album remained elusive until yesterday, when he came clean to Billboard in a track-by-track interview of the album. Our use of “came clean,” is no mistake either. Before Medasin was the producer and musician he is today, he was addicted to drugs and moving aimlessly through life. It was Irene, his outpatient program counselor at Access Counseling Group, her rehab facility in Plano, Texas, that brought him out of his downward spiral. “The idea of Irene is essentially me...
As Marshmello’s integration into pop becomes more secure day by day, his new productions are reflecting his shift. Today, his collaboration with Bastille, “Happier,” is released. Ultimately, the production from Marshmello is able to bring out the best of lead vocalist Dan Smith’s voice, whose warm tones are supported by a fun and poppy vibe. There’s no doubt that this song will hit the Billboard Hot 100 as well as radio and we don’t really mind. Your EDM has been vocal about our opinions on some of Marshmello’s less than stellar (in our opinion) tracks, but “Happier” is well produced...
Nashville’s 24-8 Management is responsible for managing some of the biggest names in bass music like Herobust and Spag Heddy, and have now added a brand new face to the roster, the grammy-nominated producer Jonny Grande. Since his start, he’s remixed for Bassnectar, Post Malone, and also released his ‘Soundboy Killa’ EP nearly a year ago that took the hype of bass music to a whole new level. To celebrate the signing, I’m happy to premiere his electrifying, self-directed music video for his track off the ‘Soundboy Killa’ EP, “Purple Haze”, featuring another talented up and comer, Lucy Jane....
Continuing to work on her crossover sound that incapsulates country and pop, Brooke Williams has just released a brand new single. Titled ‘Nightmare,’ this one has been written by the San Diego native, and is riddled with personality. Sounding fresh and eye-catching with her gorgeous tones at the forefront, ‘Nightmare’ has a slight bite to it, and perhaps we can expect more similar work from Williams in the future. For now, we’re sitting back and enjoying this easy-listener. Check it out!
With releases in the last few months on Invisible, EatBrain, Blackout and Maztek’s burgeoning label 0101, Repill seems to be one of the most sought-after producers in hard drum and bass at the moment. His upcoming EP on Blackout called Fission is out tomorrow and is also the first solo EP he’s done since Call of the Warchief on Eatbrain in January. The last premiere before this mega EP drops is called “Jealousy,” and Your EDM’s got it. With Fission it seems Redpill is definitely doing a return to form in terms of his own style, Blackout and even neurofunk. The brassy, techy synths...

There’s nothing quite like waking up to The Chainsmokers, and last week on Good Morning America the duo hit the stage for the show’s Summer Concert Series at Central Park in NYC. Fans showed up early and waited in line for hours to see them perform. Live renditions of “Sick Boy,” “Somebody,” and their most recent release, “Side Effects” took form on television as America got ready for work, sipped on coffee, and watched one of the biggest acts on the planet. Not only was the crowd loving it, this made for a performance Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall will...

Despite SoundCloud’s apparent imminent downfall in 2017, it persevered and continues to be a bastion of new and experimental music. On that note, SoundCloud has partnered with Bacardi and Major Lazer on their “Music Liberates Music” initiative to discover new artists and give them a platform for success. With the new partnership, SoundCloud will host a competition. According to Digital Music News, “In a nutshell, artists from the U.S., Puerto Rico and the Bahamas will be asked to submit music on SoundCloud. After a review period, Major Lazer will critique one dozen finalists, specifically using SoundCloud’s commenting functionality. At...
