Producer, DJ and vocalist Navid Izadi has passed away following a plane crash, which also took his mother’s life. On Sunday, August 5th, the Cessna 414 aircraft they were traveling on reportedly nose dived into a retail parking lot near John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, California. None of the five people onboard survived, but miraculously there were no casualties on the ground. The 32-year-old producer was closely involved with Wolf + Lamb and Crew Love collectives. He also sang on tracks for PillowTalk, Soul Clap and Deniz Kurtel, to name a few. No word yet on what caused the crash, but federal investigators...
Artists are getting paid more than ever for their work, but the reality is that it’s still a very paltry sum. According to a new report published by Citigroup, only 12% of the $43 billion generated by the music industry in 2017 was delivered to artists for their work. This is a significant increase from just 7% in 2000, but it’s still not enough. The report reveals that the bulk of the money is going to the middlemen: tech companies, radio stations, and record labels. It also reveals that artists have turned to live performances more than streaming as their main source...
This year’s HARD Summer, the first without HARD Events founder Gary Richards and being led solely by Insomniac, was a resounding success. Featuring dozens of in-demand artists and over 73,000 people each day, most people went home with memories for a lifetime. Unfortunately, some weren’t so lucky. Twenty three individuals were hospitalized over the course of the weekend for various reasons. Most were released, but two young women remain for further treatment. One man, 19-year-old Andrew Cole Click of Tracy, Calif., was taken to a local area hospital and pronounced dead at 11:45 p.m. on Sunday. An autopsy will be...

It’s hard to believe that nearly four months have gone by since the death of world-class producer, musician and celebrity Avicii. His death, though not ultimately surprising, shocked many by the young age at which he passed. Avicii had a history of health problems relating to being overworked and partaking in drinking and drugs, but seemed to have been on a better path after announcing his retirement from touring in 2016. It is ultimately the touring, and his manager Ash Pournouri, that Avicii’s step-father, Tommy Körberg, now blames for his death. In a recent interview in the podcast “Värvet,” Körberg, is father...
The last time we heard new original music from Zhu was his Ringos Desert Pt 1 project in April, which contained seven of our favorite Zhu releases of his career. Since then, Zhu has been busy building out the Blacklizt brand and dropping some new merch, as well as a remix for Calvin Harris. But some recent social media activity has us hyped for new music. First up, on Twitter, Zhu announced a new song with Majid Jordan dropping this Friday. Zhu debuted the song earlier this year at Lightning in a Bottle and has been once of his more...
It’s only been four days since Martin Garrix & Khalid dropped Volume 2 of their “Ocean” remixes, with new cuts from Holy Goof, Myrne, and more. And yet, we’re already getting another special remix of the track from none other than Hexagon leader Don Diablo this Friday. As with most Don Diablo tracks, it follows a similar pattern with some distorted vocals, piano, and future house synths that will no doubt get you dancing. The remix was played at during his set at Tomorrowland this year, which you can see below!
Conrank returns to Circus Records with a 2011-era dubstep banger that’s sure to melt your face off, courtesy of Drezza and Patwan. “Decapitate” sounds like it’s straight off of Rusko’s or 12th Planet’s hard drive in the early days of dubstep, complete with massive wobbles and ragga vocals. The bass is absolutely thunderous and risks blowing out your speakers with its low-end frequencies and relentless power. Conrank aims to make a statement with every one of his releases, and this one is telling us, “Fuck it, I can be big in any era. Watch this.” Check out “Decapitate” below.
If you’re needing something to give you that boost to conquer this day, look no further. Bailo, VRG, and rapper Born I Music all teamed up for the massive single, “Firestorm”, that truly lives up to the name. It’s the first time these three have come together and it is something special, one that I’m so stoked to premiere for you guys. Born I Music kicks off the track, providing incredible flow over a flawless trap arrangement. Everything builds into electrifying chaos, as Bailo & VRG provide not one but two thunderous drops that are just ridiculous. You can...
Lil Pump‘s Lollapalooza set over the weekend was apparently so lit that it got shut down. The rapper says organizers cut him off because the crowd was going too hard, and he thinks it’s wack. It’s difficult to say exactly what triggered the shortened set. The crowd was definitely packed in, moshing, and doing the things typical of a hip hop show crowd. At certain points, music was cut off and fans were asked to back up. If safety was a concern, which seems to be the case, then ultimately Lollapalooza made the right call here. Lil Pump took...
