The Eagles are now certified 38-times platinum for their most famous record, as Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 becomes the best-selling album of all time in the U.S. “Take It Easy,” “Witchy Woman,” “Desperado,” and “Take It to the Limit” are just some of the hits housed on this 10-track record. The album debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 and reached number one the following week, and has been played out by rock fans ever since. The band’s singer and drummer Don Henley just issued a statement following the headlines: “We are grateful for our families, our management, our crew, the people at...
For the latest episode of Diplo & Friends, the man Diplo recruited his “long time personal friend and lover” — himself — for an epic, two-hour mix. With Diplo in the mix, it’s nothing but nonstop dance-driven energy as he rinses tracks from tons of his friends including Valentino Khan, Mercer, Camelphat, Chris Lorenzo, A-Trak, Zeds Dead, Fisher and so many more. In fact, he leaves much of the soundtrack to his buddies as he expertly intertwines their sounds for a unique vibe of his own. He does sprinkle in a few of his own tracks like Silk City‘s “Feel About You,”...
Sexual harassment is a major problem at music festivals — and a new study has exposed some extremely upsetting statistics. According to Durham University research, 30% of women say they have been sexually harassed and 10% sexually assaulted. Safety at music festivals is a huge concern, as almost seven out of 10 women worry about potential sexual advances at events across the UK. The numbers are much lower among men respondents. About 5% say they have been sexually harassed and 1% sexually assaulted. Still, the fear exists to some degree, regardless of gender. Theft and physical violence are also big concerns of...
Nicki Minaj isn’t too pleased with Spotify right now. Particularly as it concerns her new album Queen and, in her opinion, the streaming service’s lackluster promotion surrounding the release. Referencing Drake‘s recent Scorpion SZN promotion, which left many subscribers outraged, Minaj went off on Twitter… “Spotify had to teach me a lesson but rewarded the man who has had an Apple radio show the longest; inadvertently helping the Apple platform the most.” A rep for Spotify has since spoken out to Variety and feels the promo was sufficient:”Spotify supported Nicki Minaj with a Times Square billboard, a host of the largest playlists, New Music Friday...
As most people know, I’m always good for a bit of bouncy house music in my life and this new collaborative single from warner case & Zak Downtown definitely hits the spot for me. Originally conceived as a bouncy instrumental from warner case, the track evolved into the record it is today out of sheer coincidence when warner case bumped into Zak Downtown who graciously agreed to provide his smooth vocals. The result is a banging club-ready record that’s sure to take over the New York house music scene by storm. Stream it below on SoundCloud or check here to stream on...
You’d be hard-pressed to find people who support homophobia in dance music culture, but they are of course out there lurking. Much has been done to provide all cultures, sexual orientations, races, genders, et al. with a safe space to dance their booties off, but the battle continues day after day. The latest to really make a statement about homophobia in dance music is Canadian producer/DJ Ekali, who in doing so, also came out as bisexual. So far, it seems that Ekali, real name Nathan Shaw, has received nothing but words of support from his friends, followers, and colleagues. Other...
There are seven wonders in the world (depending on whose list you go by), and by the end of this September, Paul Oakenfold will have performed at three of them. The legendary English record producer and trance DJ is full of firsts, going on tour with U2 in the early ’90s, playing a show at the Mount Everest base camp, and more. Now, this September, he will make history with the first-ever performance at Stonehenge. There will be an invited audience of 50 hand-picked guests to witness this special experience at this UNESCO World Heritage site and this will...
Yes, you read that headline right. Eric Clapton has a new Christmas album on the way, and he is dedicating “Jingle Bells” to Avicii. Eric Clapton dished the details in an interview with Billboard about the upcoming album, titled Happy Xmas. He said his rendition of “Jingle Bells” will be dedicated to “the memory of Avicii.” Billboard reported the song was dedicated to Avicii due to his “admiration for the late DJ.” Clapton even titled his version as “Jingle Bells (In Memory Of Avicii).” The combo may seem a bit odd, but it’s cool to see a legendary rock...
The crunchy midtempo music train is going full throttle ahead, and every producer is out there trying their hand at the style. Some come from bass realms, some not, but the end result is always a dark and foreboding theme with powerfully textured synths and thunderous bass. LUUDE’s new song “Omen” takes this sound and also combines it with the sort of dystopian, cyberpunk themes introduced by artists like Gesaffelstein and Kavinsky years ago. The bouncy rhythm is more than indicative of that era, while the dark build and crunchy synths bring in the new. As with many songs...
A man was found dead on I-80 in Salt Lake City outside of Das Energi festival, which took place over this weekend at The Great Saltair. Now, troopers are hoping his wardrobe and tattoos will help to identify his body. According to KSL, emergency dispatchers received reports of a body lying in the westbound lanes of I-80 at the state Route 202 overpass around 3:35 a.m. When troopers arrived, they found a deceased man on the road and he appeared to have been struck by several vehicles.
