Late last week, rapper and artist G-Eazy was arrested in Sweden after getting into a physical altercation with security guards at club Solidaritet in Stockholm. When he was arrested and searched, police found cocaine on his person. Today, G-Eazy, real name Gerald Gillum, is “grateful and blessed” to be a free man. According to People, Gillum managed to stay out of jail, but was still sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to pay approximately $9,000 USD (80,000 krona), and a restitution of around $810 USD (6,500 krona) to the security guard he allegedly assaulted. Sweden has a zero tolerance...
It’s been five years since the last HARD event at the LA State Historic Park. The site was closed to the public for years for renovations, and opened again last year with an inaugural event called Skyline, featuring Lido, Duke Dumont, Elohim, and EDEN (promoted by Insomniac, Space Yacht, and KCRW). Now, it seems the location might finally be used again for a major music event, especially if it’s involving Insomniac Events and Zedd. Both Insomniac and Zedd tweeted out a picture of the location yesterday with the caption “stay tuned.” As best as we can tell, no other artists have...

Everybody is talking about Childish Gambino‘s music video “This Is America,” which tackles heavy political issues, particularly gun violence. Over the weekend, Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) hosted Saturday Night Live and used the platform for more than just dropping a hot hip hop track. Introducing “This Is America,” he made and continues to make a huge statement. Within the first few moments of the music video, the rapper shoots someone dead with much nonchalance. It’s shocking to say the least and sure to get your attention from the get go. He continues about his business, dancing around strangely with...
Good news, future DJs! You can now learn how to spin as part of your General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) over in the UK. According to BBC, this has become possible because decks are now recognized as formal instruments by examination boards. That puts your controller or CDJs right up there with a guitar, piano, saxophone — you name it. Professional DJs and instructors Austen and Scott Smart are behind the course’s DJ curriculum, which students seems to really be connecting with. Some even say, they learn even better while studying other subjects after using DJing as a creative...
