Kobe Bryant was taken from the world far too soon. On January 26th in California, Bryant and his daughter Gigi passed away in a helicopter crash that claimed the lives of seven others. Soon after his passing, it was revealed that Bryant would be heading to Basketball Hall of Fame alongside two of his biggest rivals in Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan.

It remains to be seen when his enshrinement will take place but according to Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame CEO John Doleva, Bryant’s family is hoping to make it extremely special. In a recent interview, Doleva said that he has been speaking to Vanessa Bryant about the enshrinement and how the whole family is hoping to be involved.

“I had the opportunity to speak very briefly with Mrs. Bryant and she was very appreciative and very emotional,” Doleva said. “She has certainly indicated to be very involved, she and her family and others, in his enshrinement ceremony when it happens. […] People are going to want to hear about Kobe personally, not just a vignette. Whether that’s his wife or his teammates or a combination thereof.”

Kobe was beloved by basketball fans all around the world and that fact that he won’t see himself inducted into the Hall is a true crime. Regardless, we can’t wait to see what’s in store and we guarantee many tears will be shed.
