We all remember that unfortunate New Year’s Eve performance that we got from Mariah Carey one year ago when the veteran songstreess cited technical difficulties as contributing to a performance where she couldn’t hear herself and practically gave up on the performance midway through.

This time around, however, the siren has had a chance at redemption, and the general consensus  is an appreciation for a major upgrade from last year’s blunder. Appearing on the New Year’s Rockin’ Eve special, hosted by Ryan Seacrest, Mariah delivered on an improved performance in which she dished out renditions her “Vision Love” and “Hero” songs.

Despite subzero temperatures, Carey, along with other acts that included country duo Sugarland, Nick Jonas, and Camila Cabello, set out to put on an entertaining show for the masses in New York’s Time Square. While not as apparent as last year, Mariah took the opportunity to fer a quip when commenting that just one thing wasn’t right.

“I just want to take a sip tea if they’ll let me — they told me there would be tea,” she said onstage before joking that her lack tea was a “disaster.”
