Swedish House Mafia Manager Launches Music Business Course For Charity
If there’s a person who knows the ins and outs of the music industry, it’s Amy Thomson, Swedish House Mafia‘s manager. She’s worked with everyone from Kanye West to DJ Snake to Gorillaz, and now she’s heading up a 5-day crash course called Mind Your Own Business — perfect for those trying to break into the industry and all for a great cause.
Thomson’s 20-years of experience, music business knowhow, and textbook will guide the series as a panel of professional experts offer up lessons and discussions along the way. Many aspects of the industry will be covered including music branding, marketing, royalties, law, and much more.
“There are trademarks, liability insurance, marketing, digital spends, who you need to hire in your team,” Thomson explains. “This is the sort of thing young managers can be fired for, and that’s not fair, but where is the course which gives them a basic understanding? At the very least so they know the experts they need to hire, what types of fees those people expect, and have they covered all their basics.”
Of course, with all the knowledge and connections of MYOB comes a price tag. But the real silver lining is all proceeds from the $1,311 per-head tuition will go toward mental health charities. So, money will be going back to music organizations that can help exactly where we’re hurting.
MYOB comes to Central London Monday, Oct. 22 through Friday, Oct. 26. However, only the “brightest minds and hungriest attitudes” will be admitted. If you want to be the best in the biz, this just might be a great launch pad!
Check out Mind Your Own Business for more details and information.

Don Diablo Releases New Single Dedicated To Avicii "Wake Me Up When It's Quiet"
Everyone has reacted differently to Avicii’s passing. Some have chosen to dedicate songs to him at shows, others have even gotten new tattoos to his memory, and still others have created new songs entirely to remember him by.
HILDA spent the entire day following Avicii’s passing writing “Wake Me When It’s Quiet.” The demo found its way to Don Diablo a friend of his, and suddenly the two were collaborating.
Speaking about the day that she wrote the song, HILDA said, “It came together the morning after we got the tragic news. Being one of our generation’s greatest icons and inspiring millions of people from all over the world… the shocking news shook us at our very core. Knowing Don shared exactly the same emotions, it felt natural to collaborate with him on this song.”
“When I listened to it the first time it touched me deeply in so many,” says Don Diablo. “As artists, the best way to express our emotions is through music so I locked myself up in the studio and was determined to walk out with something magical that would do justice to the sincere message of the demo and the incredible talent of HILDA. I truly felt this song needed to get heard. So many people are struggling with mental health problems and we have to make sure to never turn a blind eye to this.”
All the profits from the song will be donated to the Swedish charity, Tilia (www.foreningentilia.se) and other charities devoted to mental health issues.

Gabrielle Union & Dwyane Wade Flip A House For Charity In New HGTV Special
Those you who don't spend hours in front the television might not be aware, but real estate and home renovation is a really big seller. There are countless shows where people purchase, renovate, or sell property, and viewers seem to eat it up.
But now celebrities are trying to get in on the property action. According to The Boombox, Being Mary Jane actress Gabrielle Union and Miami Heat shooting guard Dwyane Wade will be premiering their own home renovation special, which will air on HGTV on April 12th.
Union took the announcement to Instagram, posting a picture the couple holding some pruners and a paint roller. In the post, she writes, "Taking my recent real estate obsession to the next level and getting our hands dirty."
The whole thing was apparently Union's idea, saying in a statement that, "Ever since we renovated our house a few years ago, I've been a little real-estate obsessed," adding that, "It took a while, but I finally convinced Dwyane that we should try flipping a house."
The show will follow the couple as they scout, purchase, renovate, and flip the house, which is located in Miami. All the proceeds from the house will be donated to an as--yet unnamed charity.
That was apparently the hook to get Dwyane to agree to the show, stating "we're doing it to raise money for charity," adding, "So how could I say no?"
If you've got a thing for home renovations or are just a huge Miami Heat fan, you might want to check out the special when it airs on April 12.

Seth Rogen's Netflix Comedy Special To Include Post Malone & Tiffany Haddish
Seth Rogen is really rolling out the red carpet for his new Netflix "Hilarity for Charity" comedy special. According to Variety, an extensive and completely wild list guests have been announced to make appearances during the show.
The list includes Tiffany Haddish Girls Trip fame, Kumail Nanjiani from Silicon Valley and the Academy Award nominated The Big Sick, as well as numerous other guests including Sarah Silverman, Michelle Wolf, John Mulaney, Nick Kroll, The Muppets, Sasha Baron Cohen, Jeff Goldblum, Craig Robinson, Michael Che, The Nasty Delicious, and even Post Malone.
While it's unlikely that Post Malone will be performing stand-up comedy during the special (the show includes musical performances as well as stand-up and skits), this line up promises an interesting time, at the very least. The "Hilarity for Charity" show is in support Seth's charity the same name. Started by he and his wife, Lauren Miller Rogen, back in 2012, the organization raises awareness for Alzheimer's disease. This is the sixth such show that Rogen has done, but this will be the first time it will ever be streamed on Netflix for the whole world to see.
The show is going to be performed live before an audience on March 24th, but should make its way to the streaming platform some time in April. If you're in LA, see if you can snag a ticket to support a good cause. Otherwise, we'll have to wait until April to see if Post Malone will get to meet Big Bird on stage.
21 Savage Shows Off His Charitable Side On 'The Ellen Show'
Known as one the world's favorite trappers, 21 Savage has shown his business insight over the last few weeks, attempting to influence the youth to spend their money wisely. The ATL musician disavowed jewelry, saying that he prefers to put his money towards real estate and cryptocurrency investments. Aside from the occasional splurge at the Gucci store, 21 is showing that he has the wits to stay rich for a while, even as he continues to make music and rake in the benefits being one the top rappers worldwide.
Today's episode The Ellen DeGeneres Show features 21 Savage, who performed a few tracks for the crowd. Based on Ellen's regular audience and 21's lyrical content, we can safely assume that the crowd was terrified 21 Savage by the end the episode. Having made a seamless transition from rapping about murder to modern-day celebrity coupled with Amber Rose, 21 continued to demonstrate ways to contribute your wealth that are superior to diamonds and gold: charity. 21 Savage stayed true to his name, presenting a check worth $21,000 to Get Schooled, a non-prit organization designed to inspire young people to attend higher education institutes.
The evolution 21 Savage has been fascinating, as he continues to do good in the world, encouraging kids to make a positive difference in the world and teaching them that with wealth, comes responsibility. You can watch 21 on Ellen, being the good dude that he is.
