The music community is mourning the loss of Chynna Rogers, a rising Philadelphia rapper who passed away this week.

At the young age of twenty-five, many have been wondering what led to the untimely demise of the seemingly healthy rapper and model. Given the current state of the world, it was speculated by some fans that she may have died of COVID-19. Her official cause of death has been revealed and that is not the case.

As reported by Page Six, Chynna Rogers passed away from an accidental drug overdose. The Philadelphia Department of Public Health reportedly confirmed the overdose today after the singer was found dead in her home on Wednesday.

Chynna was very open about her struggles with drug addiction, speaking about it on her mixtape Ninety. 

“I felt crazy. I didn’t want to be a statistic. I didn’t want to go out that way and people be like, ‘I told you so,’ or glamorize it [drugs], because I don’t feel like that,” she said in an interview with Vibe a couple of years ago. “It was nerve-wracking to be open, but when you see how many more people who are dealing with the same thing, it’s good to have some kind of example of someone you didn’t expect to be going through it.”

It’s only the middle of March and 2020 is shaping up to be one helluva year. As if there weren’t already enough tragic and strange occurrences happening around the world, Andrew Gillum, the former Mayor of Tallahassee, Florida has found himself engulfed in a perplexing scandal. In 2018, Gillum’s name headlines after he ran for office in hopes of becoming Florida’s next governor. He lost by a mere 34,000 votes, but he’s continued to push forward with political agendas.

On Friday (March 13), news surfaced that in the early morning hours, Miami-Dade police were called to the Mondrian South Beath hotel because someone was apparently having a heart attack. When they arrived, they found that 30-year-old Travis Dyson had collapsed and began giving him chest compressions. Two other men were in the room—Andrew Gillum and Aldo Mejias—and police on the scene claimed they could plainly see baggies out in the open. A test would determine the baggies contained crystal meth. Gillum nor Meijas were arrested.

Later, Gillum issued a statement about the incident. “I was in Miami last night for a wedding celebration when first responders were called to assist one of my friends,” he said. “While I had too much to drink, I want to be clear that I have never used methamphetamines. I apologize to the people of Florida for the distraction this has caused our movement.”

Meijas reportedly told officers that earlier that day, he gave Dyson his credit card information so that he could rent a room at the hotel. Meijas arrived around 11:00 p.m. and claimed that Gillum and Dyson were “under the influence of an unknown substance” and as soon as Dyson opened the door, he then fell onto the bed. Dyson complained of pains in his chest before he began to vomit.

Dyson is reportedly being treated for a drug overdose at a nearby hospital, according to theMiami Herald. Gillum was allowed to return home to his wife and children without further incident.

2020 Presidential candidate and former mayor of New York, Mike Bloomberg, is catching heat for some disturbing comments he made about a father and son who passed away from an accidental overdose. On a political panel uploaded by the Bermuda Broadcasting company in March 2019, Bloomberg referenced a New York Daily News article about the tragic heroin overdoses of 44-year-old Joseph Andrade and his son Carlos in order to demonize the legalization of marijuana.

The ex-Stop-and-Frisk advocate decided it was a good idea to criticize the father, son duo and label them 'not a good family,' due to their struggles with addiction. During a brief segment during the panel, Bloomberg proudly states:

"The New York Post or the Daily News had a picture on the front page where a father and a son, they both OD'd at the same party," he said. "It's not a good family. It's craziness. And then we are going hellbent for whether in this country to legalize marijuana, another addictive drug."

Bloomberg also stated that the majority of America's youth are willing to join the Armed Forces, but only 25% of the population has the ability to read and write and are fit enough to join the military. Traumatic events can be a defining turning point in a person’s life, but the tragic death of a parent can be earthshattering. Shyheim has been opening up about his successes and failures with VladTV now that he’s recently been released from prison after serving five years. The rapper was convicted of second-degree manslaughter following the death of a motorist during a car accident. As he’s becoming acclimated to life outside of prison walls, Shyheim is ready to share portions of his life story that many people never learned about the Wu-Tang-affiliated artist.

In 2009, back when Shyheim was in his early thirties, the rapper’s mother lost her life after overdosing on heroin. “Losing a mom at 30, that’s pretty young. So then, I was really, really lost,” he said. “I was lost before, but then I really started gettin’ out of control.” Shyheim admitted that his life took a turn back in the 1990s, but the death of his mother “added to the wounds and to the psychological trauma that was going on in my life.”

“You see your mom, the one that raised you on the floor gone,” Shyheim continued. “It does something to you. You’ll never be the same. I’ll never be the same as I was as that kid. From the trauma and the things that I went through.” He added, “The weird thing [that] started the happen [was] I would hear her voice clearly of everything she ever told me. That’s what would make me cry and that’s what would touch me. It’s just like, yo. What do you do? Where do you go from here?”

Shyheim said that there were people around him with the ability to change his life and remove him from troublesome situations, but didn’t. Check out his clip below where he also talks about learning how to be a good father.

Hollywood is mourning the death of a reality star. It’s being reported the former The Bachelorette contestant Tyler Gwozdz has died of a suspected drug overdose. News began to circulate on Wednesday (January 22) that the 29-year-old had been rushed to the hospital after police were dispatched to a Florida home.

However, according to reports by TMZand PEOPLE, a Boca Raton Police Services Department spokesperson shared the Gwozdz was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit after they “responded to a medical overdose” back on Monday, January 13. PEOPLE claims to have obtained a copy of the 911 call that shows Gwozdz’s bathroom door had to be kicked in before Narcan was administered to the reality star in the hopes of reversing the effect of an opioid overdose. 

During his hospitalization, Gwozdz “was listed as being in critical but stable condition.” However, paperwork states that he passed away on Wednesday. During his stint on last year’s season of The Bachelorette with Hannah Brown, Gwozdz shocked viewers when he decided to check out during the third episode. He only said he “had to leave” and it was shared that what truly happened behind the scenes wasn’t aired by producers “to respect his privacy.” It will reportedly take eight to 12 weeks for a full toxicology report.

At the young age of 21, Chicago rapper Juice WRLD passed away after suffering a seizure at the Midway Airport in his hometown. Several reports have claimed that, prior to landing, the recording artist was informed that the feds would be searching his plane for drugs and guns after receiving a tip from the pilot. Juice WRLD reportedly swallowed a number of pills in an attempt to hide the evidence but it looks like that may have been a deadly mistake because, as reported by XXL, the young man’s death has officially been ruled an accidental drug overdose.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office reportedly confirmed to the publication that Juice WRLD’s death on December 8, 2019 was the cause of “oxycodone and codeine toxicity.” The report also notes that his death was not intentional.

The rapper’s record label, Geffen A&M Records, previously issued a statement on his passing. “Juice made a profound impact on the world in such a short period of time,” they wrote. “He was a gentle soul, whose creativity knew no bounds, an exceptional human being and artist who loved and cared for his fans above everything else. To lose someone so kind and so close to our hearts is devastating. Our thoughts are with Juice’s family and friends, everyone at his label Grade A, and his millions of fans around the world.”

Juice WRLD recently appeared on his idol Eminem’s surprise album, featuring on the standout track “Godzilla.” Rest in power, Juice WRLD. We miss you.

It was a devastating loss for TobyMac and his family when his son, 21-year-old Truett Foster McKeehan, passed away back in October 2019 at home in Nashville, Tennessee. The shocking news reverberated throughout the music industry as the Christian rapper attempted to honor Truett with an emotional tribute in his song, “21 Years.”

“’21 years’ is a song I wrote about the recent passing of my firstborn son, Truett Foster McKeehan. I loved him with all my heart,” TobyMac shared on Instagram. “Until something in life hits you this hard, you never know how you will handle it. I am thankful that I have been surrounded by love, starting with God’s and extending to community near and far that have walked with us and carried us everyday.”

Truett was an aspiring rapper who wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps. On October 23, police responded to a 911 call at almost 11:00 a.m. that someone was in cardiac arrest. After months of testing, both Radar Online and Extra TV report that Truett’s cause of death has been deemed an accidental overdose from “acute combined drug intoxication.” The publications state that both “fentanyl” and “amphetamine” were found in his system. New Year’s Eve is celebrated worldwide by hundreds of millions of people with aspirations of shedding old habits and embracing the new year. No one wants to believe that they will be mourning the death of their loved ones less than 24 hours later, but Nick Gordon’s family had to face tragic news on January 1. The former fiancée of Bobbi Kristina Brown died from a suspected drug overdose, and after the news surfaced, less than favorable reports about him resurfaced.

“That’s my older brother. When people see me, they see Nick,” Gordon’s brother Jack Walker Jr. told Entertainment Tonight. “Everything that he’s taught me, I’m going to live through. I’m going to make sure I take it and I use it. And I’m going to make sure everything that he wanted me to do, I’m going to do it.”

Although it’s suspected that Gordon’s cause of death was from a drug overdose, Jack insists that when he spoke to Gordon, he seemed just fine. “I spoke to him six hours before he passed,” he said. “He was in a normal state of mind. Nick was fine, he was cool like anybody else would be on New Year’s, honestly.” Jack added, “He called me on the phone and I was working. I was busy, so I told him I would call when I got off. It wasn’t really like he was messed up or anything like that. He was normal.”

When he heard that his brother was in the hospital, Jack rushed to his side. “I tried my hardest to wake my brother up. Me, my father and [Nick’s girlfriend] Laura [Leal] were there with him,” he said. “We were trying as hard as we possibly could to wake Nick up but, you know, it’s just how it is. God’s plan. Nick wasn’t speaking at all. He wasn’t speaking, but he could hear me.”

Whitney Houston unofficially adopted Gordon when he was 12-years-old and took him under her wing. Then, he began dating Whitney and Bobby Brown’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, and reports ran rampant that the family was less than supportive of their union. Gordon stayed by Bobbi Kristina’s side following her mother’s death in 2012, and it was Gordon who reportedly found Bobbi Kristina face down in a bathtub in 2015. A wrongful death lawsuit was filed against the 30-year-old after Bobbi Kristina passed away six months later, and he was found guilty. Gordon was ordered to pay $36 million.

“My brother loved her,” Jack said of Gordon’s affections for Bobbi Kristina. “Everything. All this. Everything that he’s been going through has taken a toll on my brother. Everything. Everything that the media’s been throwing at him, everything that life’s been throwing at him, yeah, it took a toll on him. He lost somebody he really loved. It’s hard to be the same person when you lose somebody.”

Jack insisted that his brother was in a good place and the media has been angling Gordon to be someone that he wasn’t. “Nick was a great person, and he was loved by many people,” Jack stated. “Everybody’s entitled to their own opinion, but Nick was a great person. Nick loved everybody and people fail to realize that. All they do is read tabloids and make a judgment out of somebody off of that and that’s not the case of my brother. I’ve known the man for all of 27 years, so I think I have a better judgment on the type of person he is than the majority of the people who are writing and saying [negative] stuff about him.”
