There have been rumors circulating about a possible trade involving Odell Beckham Jr., but Browns general manager John Dorsey took the time to dispell it as untrue. He told ESPN: "That's fake news." ESPN also says Dorsey claims "he has not taken any trade calls on Beckham, is not interested in taking any calls and hasn't even thought about trading him before the Oct. 29 deadline."
Over the last week, trade rumors involving Beckham have ramped up as the Browns continue to struggle. Colin Cowherd of Fox Sports has theorized that the way to fix the Browns' struggles is to trade Beckham. "I would strongly consider trading OBJ," he said on his show earlier this week. He expanded on three reasons, citing Cleveland's identity issues, the return of Kareem Hunt, and the offense's struggling offensive line. Check out his full explanation here.
In other NFL news, ESPN is also reporting that rumors of Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin heading to the Washington Redskins are unture. "I don't see Mike going to Washington," a source told the publication. "That is so far-fetched. It's so far out there. It would have to be a deal that the league never has seen before and would change the way business is done in football, and I don't see that happening."
Colin Kaepernick’s Agent Explains Situation With NFL
The statement breaks down the entire situation.
Earlier this week, Colin Kaepernick’s agent released a detailed statement with hopes to clear up any confusion about the ex-NFL player’s situation. The statement asks and answers a large number of questions fans may have. “There have been so many false narratives in the media regarding Colin, we believe it is important to set the record straight, again. Nothing below is up for interpretation or debate, it’s the truth and nothing else,” the statement begins.
The first question reads, “Is Colin still able to seek employment in the NFL after he filed a grievance?” The answer says, “Yes. Eric Ried filed the same grievance and is currently employed by an NFL team.”
Other questions include:
"Has Colin ever had a workout with an NFL team?”
"No, not a single team has brought Colin in for a workout. Seattle brought Colin in for a visit but did not work him out. Afterwards, Pete Carroll said Colin is a 'starter in this league.'"
"Have you reached out to every team on Colin's behalf?
"I have reached out to all 32 teams about Colin's employment, with little to no response from teams about an opportunity for Colin. In 25 years, I have never seen anything like it."
Check out the full statement below.
The statement ends, “In summary, it is difficult to think of another young player in NFL history with statistics and character as impressive as Colin’s and not being given an opportunity to earn a spot on an NFL roster after what he’s accomplished.”
Todd Gurley Injury Status Updated Ahead Of Rams Vs. 49ers Game
Gurley has struggled with injuries for a while now.
Todd Gurley has been considered to be one of the best running backs in the NFL over the past few seasons but this year, there have been questions as to whether or not he can continue being an effective player in the league. After suffering an injury at the tail end of last season, Gurley experienced some troubles during the playoffs and wasn't being used as often or as effectively. During the NFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl, Gurley was practically nowhere to be found and reports started to circulate that he had arthritis in his knee.
This season, Gurley has experienced more of the same as he simply hasn't been used as often. While he has shown some flashes of his old brilliance, there have been times where he just doesn't look the same. This is significant as today, Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters that Gurley is currently day-to-day with a quad injury and didn't practice today.
There are no guarantees being made as to whether or not he will play this weekend but if the Rams want to win, they'll want Gurley present. The team has lost two straight games and is playing their divisional rivals, the San Francisco 49ers who just so happen to be undefeated.
Needless to say, things aren't going too well in Los Angeles.
Young Thug Shows Love To Antonio Brown With IG Endorsement
Thugger wants AB back in the league.
Antonio Brown has singlehandedly pushed himself out of the NFL and it doesn’t seem like he will be back on the field anytime soon. After blowing his opportunities with the Oakland Raiders and the New England Patriots, fans aren’t exactly sure how AB will be able to dig himself out of the hole he has created for himself. Regardless, Brown has made it evident that he wants to be back in the league sooner than later and earlier this week, Brown pled with the Patriots to let him back on the team so he can earn his money.
His request probably won’t be granted anytime soon although it’s not for a lack of trying. AB does seem to be getting some support though as he recently shared Young Thug‘s Instagram story on his own page. As you can see from the screenshot below, Thugger is endorsing Brown and wants to see him back on the Patriots.
It seems as though more and more celebrities have been coming out in support of AB which can only do wonders for his public image. When it comes to the fans, many have fallen out of favor with the star wide receiver but if there is one thing American’s love, it’s a good redemption story.
Maybe he’ll be back on the field sooner than we think.
Richard Sherman Comments On Baker Mayfield Handshake Controversy: Watch
It was all a misunderstanding.
Richard Sherman has always been one of the more vocal players in the entire NFL and right beside him in that crusade is Cleveland Browns quarterback, Baker Mayfield. The two see to have very similar personalities that tend to clash at times. This was apparent during Monday Night Football when after the game, Sherman alleged that Mayfield wouldn't shake his hand during the pre-game coin toss. Based on visual evidence of the interaction, this was most certainly not the case as you can clearly see Mayfield extend his hand.
After being called out for making false allegations, Sherman realized it was time to apologize and hit up The Pat McAfee Show to clear the air on what happened. As Sherman said, he hopes to apologize to Baker and eventually make things right.
"It's definitely my bad," Sherman said. "You know, I never want anybody to have to deal with ... some stuff that they didn't do. And, so the questions that he's gonna get and the annoying, nonsense questions about some stuff that happened in a game that's already been done, sure he'll get an apology for that."
Sherman ended up getting the last laugh in that game as his 49ers won the match by a score of 31-3. Mayfield has struggled so far this season and it's clear that he has much bigger fish to fry than a handshake.
Antonio Brown Makes His Way Back On Twitter To Reclaim His Throne
AB had some words for fantasy football owners.
No football player has elicited more of a polarizing response this season than Antonio Brown. After being released by the Oakland Raiders, Brown joined the New England Patriots and ended up being kicked out of there as well. It hasn't been a very good month for AB but regardless, he is pretty confident he is still one of the best wide receivers to ever do it. Brown has been causing some problems for the league and has even filed grievances against the Raiders and Patriots so that he can get the guaranteed money that was owed to him.
Brown will most likely find it tough to get what he wants but he doesn't seem to care all that much. After roasting the likes of Baker Mayfield and Eric Weddle on social media, AB has returned to Twitter to reclaim his throne as the best wider receiver in the sport. Brown even made an appeal to fantasy football owners, asking if they missed him.
None of these tweets suggest AB is coming back into the league anytime soon but they do indicate how aware he is of his own absence. Fantasy football owners who drafted Brown have been fairly upset this season as they don't have his production to fall back on every week. Meanwhile, Brown pled with the Patriots earlier this week, saying he wants the team to let him earn his money. Essentially, he wants a second chance although that most certainly won't happen anytime soon.
Post Malone Finally Pays Up On $20K Bet To YG For Cowboys Loss To Rams
Nine months after the game, Post Malone finally pays YG the $20K they bet on the Cowboys & Rams.
It may not be on time, but Post Malone is finally paying up on his $20,000 bet to YG for last year’s Rams x Cowboys matchups in the NFL playoffs. If you forgot, the two artists made the bet in January prior to the two teams facing off in the divisional round of the playoffs, in which the Rams beat the Cowboys 30-22.
Now 9 months later and it appears YG finally just got his cash this week. According to TMZ, Post had his manager, Dre London, personally deliver the cash to the Compton rapper in a manila envelope Monday in Los Angeles. The handoff went down on the set of Tyla Yaweh's music video shoot for his collab with YG, "I Think I Luv Her.”
Who knows why it took Posty nine months to pay YG $20K, when he’s out here making millions, but he finally did. Check out the exchange (below) and look for Post Malone in a city near you on his "Runaway" Tour. Peep tour dates right here if interested.
Antonio Brown Wants Patriots To Take Him Back: ‘Let Me Earn My Money’
“If you guys follow the Patriots, tell them to call me.”
Antonio Brown is already wishing he was back on the New England Patriots, despite the fact that he trashed team owner Robert Kraft on his way out the door.
The free agent wide receiver posted an instagram live video from Miami on Wednesday morning, during which he described himself as the best receiver in the game and encouraged his supporters to reach out to the Patriots on his behalf.
“[If] you guys follow the Patriots, tell them to call me,” Brown says. “They still gotta pay me, so might as well let me earn it.”
Brown recently filed an NFL-record nine grievances in an effort to recoup all of the money he lost when he was released by the Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots, which works out to approximately $40 million. Thus far, neither team has paid AB as they wait for the NFL to conclude their investigation into sexual assault allegations filed against him.
Since being released by the Patriots on September 20, Brown has re-enrolled at Central Michigan University and has planned to visit a number of local high school football teams in the Miami area. On the flip side, he was reportedly "extremely noncompliant and flagrantly disorderly," during his recent appearance in court stemming from an incident that occurred at his Miami condo back in April.
Whatever happens next in the bizarre world of Antonio Brown, you can certainly rule out a return to the New England Patriots, know matter how much money they have to pay him.
Seahawks’ Tyler Lockett Reveals He’s A Virgin In His New Poetry Book
Tyler Lockett's poetry book "Reflections" releases October 15.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett is releasing a book of poems titled, "Reflections," on October 15, in which he shares some very personal information, including how he is still a virgin.
During a recent appearance on The Adam Schefter Podcast, Lockett opened up about his virginity, as well as his mental health and other topics discussed in his "Reflections" poetry book.
"I have a girlfriend and she understands what I’m about and loves God as well," Lockett said (H/T Complex). "She’s cool with being able to wait until marriage. So, for me, as long as somebody understands what they’re getting into and respects it, that’s all that matters."
You can listen to the full episode here.
Speaking with reporters earlier this week, Lockett shared some more thoughts about "Reflections," which he described as a self-help book that he hopes will help others who struggle with anxiety and depression.
“I never thought I would do a poetry book, to be honest,” Lockett said on Monday (H/T USA Today). “It really means a lot to me. I found out that the best way to be able to help somebody is to talk about yourself. One of the things I have in there in the introduction is if you talk about somebody else’s scars, they feel like they’re the victim and they feel like you’re coming at them. But if you talk about yourself and share your own scars, they’ll listen more and the conversation becomes more transparent.”
Rob Gronkowski Joins Fox As NFL Analyst, Debut Date Announced
Gronk joining the Fox crew ahead of Thursday's Patriots vs Giants game.
Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is joining the Fox Sports team as an NFL analyst, and his first gig will take place this Thursday, October 10 as the undefeated Patriots host the New York Giants.
Fox announced the Gronkowski will serve as an analyst on the pregame show, alongside Hall of Famers Terry Bradshaw, Michael Strahan and Tony Gonzalez. Gronk, or rather someone on his PR team, issued the following statement on Tuesday regarding his move to TV.
“I’m extremely excited to be joining FOX Sports. For the past 25 years, they’ve offered viewers top-notch NFL programming from the field to the booth to the studio. Their deep talent roster is unmatched, which was important for me as I embark on this new chapter in my life because I’ll be able to learn from the best in the business.”
The Patriots enter their Week 6 matchup against the G-Men with an unblemished 5-0 record and the league's top defense. Through their first five games, the Pats' D has surrendered just two touchdowns and an average of 6.8 points per game.
The Giants, meanwhile, are sitting at 2-3 for the year, but they are 2-1 with rookie quarterback Daniel Jones under center. Patriots-Giants, airing on Fox, is scheduled to kickoff at 8:20pm ET but Gronk fans will want to tune in early to catch the pre-game antics.
