Cardi B just got a lovely surprise in the mail while in quarantine: her Grammy award from 2019! On Wednesday (May 13th), Cardi posted a video on her Instagram story, showing off the shiny trophy she won a year-and-a-half ago at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards. In the clip, Cardi opens the box while indicting that "I just received my Grammy to the right house." Engraved on the plaque below the golden gramophone are Cardi's name and the title "Best Rap Album - 2018," which she won for her debut album, Invasion of Privacy.
Cardi's win last year was a historic one for the ladies. She became the first solo female rapper to be honoured with the prestigious award. The last female rapper in general to take home the trophy was Lauryn Hill, as part of The Fugees, who won for their album, The Score, more than two decades earlier in 1997.
Since then, Invasion of Privacy has gone on to break a number of records for female rap albums. It became the longest-charting debut for a female rapper at 92 weeks, beating Lauryn Hill's The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, which spent 91 weeks on the charts. After spending 8 more weeks on the charts, IOP also became the first female rap debut to chart for 100 weeks straight.

Currently, Cardi is working on her follow-up to her explosive debut, but is reportedly putting the process on hold to renegotiate her contract. However, she's been building the hype by sharing some snippets of a few of the tracks off the forthcoming album, including one unreleased song about her daughter, Kulture.
Cardi B Previews Unreleased Song Dedicated To Kulture
Though an album might not be coming out soon, Cardi B gives fans a glimpse of what she’s cooking up.
The anticipation is high for Cardi B‘s next album. The success of Invasion Of Privacy adds pressure to the release, especially since she’s been teasing a follow-up for nearly a year at this point. Of course, the coronavirus pandemic has put release dates on hold until proper roll outs — with press runs and tours booked — can take place. Cardi’s admitted that the pandemic is holding up the release of new music but that doesn’t mean she isn’t giving fans a sneak peak at what she’s been cooking up.

With Mother’s Day taking place over the weekend, Cardi Br recently took to her Instagram Story where she shared a snippet of a song that she wrote for her daughter, Kulture. Flexing her vocal chops on the hook, it sounds like it was meant to be the titular track on her debut album detailing her pregnancy.
In related news, new reports emerged revealing another factor in what could be playing into the hold up on Cardi B’s next album. Reports claim that she’s currently in the midst of renegotiating her deal, though there hasn’t been any clear details surrounding the specifics of the negotiations. Either way, we assume that once she’s ready, she’ll drop an album and hopefully, follow it up with an actual tour.
Check out the snippet of Cardi B’s song below.
Cardi B Album Hold Up Reportedly Due To Contract Renegotiations
Cardi B’s album is reportedly being held up because she’s renegotiating her deal.
Cardi B is undoubtedly one of the biggest acts in hip-hop right now. The release of 2018’s Invasion Of Privacy launched her to A-List stardom and she’s been riding the wave of the project ever since. Though there have been a few singles that she’s released since then, it has been an official year since the release of “Money.”

Over the past few months, she’s given fans updates on the status of the project, though the coronavirus pandemic put it on hold for the time being. Other factors have played a role in its delay too, according to reports. Per Hits Daily Double, Cardi B’s new album is being held up because she’s reportedly in the midst of renegotiating her record deal. Cardi’s signed to Atlantic records and insiders stated that a “protracted renegotiation” is pushing the release date back.
Mind you, these are rumors but given that people are eagerly awaiting for his sophomore release, it only makes sense that she’s trying to make sure that the business side of things is in order. On top of that, if this is truly a money move, it would be wise for her to unleash the project when she’s able to hit the road on an actual word tour since she wasn’t able to do that with her debut album.
Cardi B Drops Huge Flex On "Invasion Of Privacy" Anniversary
Cardi B takes a moment to stunt on the masses with a truly impressive “Invasion Of Privacy” numbers round-up.
Love her or hate her, you can’t deny that Cardi B has captivated the masses throughout her brief-yet-impactful tenure in the rap game, a run that for all intents and purposes began with 2018’s Invasion Of Privacy. Upon its release, her Grammy-Award winning debut album earned instant acclaim from a variety of publications, with many going so far as to name it one of the year’s best releases — debatable to be sure, but one might argue that the numbers don’t lie.

In fact, Cardi has come through with a reminder of just how furiously the units were moving upon Invasion Of Privacy’s initial release two years ago. “Happy Birthday Miss INVASION OF PRIVACY,” she writes, alongside some insane statistics. “My first baby. Im workin on her sister so I can birth her this year. Thank you everybody who support and still supports my album.Till this day is charting on Billboards 200.”
Alongside her reflective words, Cardi shared a picture highlighting some impressive statistics. In the past two years, “Bodak Yellow” has gone nine-times platinum, “I Like It” has gone eight-times platinum, and “Bartier Cardi” has gone triple platinum. In fact, every song except for “Bickenhead” and “Money Bag” has gone platinum, with those two seeming to peak at gold — at least, for now. Given that Invasion Of Privacy has yet to slow its momentous roll, it feels like it’s only a matter of time. Congratulations to Cardi B, and let’s hope that her sophomore release arrives this year as intended.
Cardi B’s "Invasion Of Privacy" Becomes First Female Rap Debut To Chart For 100 Weeks
Cardi B's "Invasion Of Privacy" - the longest-charting female rap debut ever - just achieved another milestone.
It has been almost two years since Cardi B shook the world with the release of her debut album, Invasion Of Privacy. The songs on there hold up to this day and the charts reflect that people are still feverishly bumping them.
In January, IOP became tied with Lauryn Hill's classic, The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill, for the longest-charting debut by a female rapper. At that point, both albums had spent 91 weeks on the Billboard 200. The following week, Cardi became the sole holder of this prestigious title, as IOP clenched its 92nd week on the chart and officially surpassed TMOLH's record.

Cardi's run did not stop there. IOH has gotten comfortable hanging out on the Billboard 200 and, according to the Chart Data Twitter page, its stay has now extended to span a monumental 100 WEEKS. Therefore, not only does Cardi have the longest-running female rap debut of all time; she is the first female rapper to have her debut spend a whole hundred weeks on the chart.
When Cardi achieved the longest-charting record in January, she shared the following message: "Thank you everybody ! Hopefully by the time I put my second album out IOP still charting .It will be dope to have two albums charting at the same time ! Ugh THE PRESSURE ! Thank you for the love . BGBGBG!” It seems likely she will secure that impressive milestone too.

"I have my cool, calm, and collective songs. Just missing a couple of more club hits, but we getting there," she revealed. When asked about a potential release date, she said she didn't know.
