Lena Waithe has been accused of stealing the idea for her new series, Girls Room, following the release of the show’s trailer. On Wednesday, Waithe took to twitter to respond, maintaining that she didn’t take the storyline from Atlanta screenwriter Nina Lee. “I was brought on to write the scripts and produce the content. I have never seen Nina Lee’s work nor would I ever steal another artist’s work,” Waithe wrote.
“As a creative myself, I can only imagine how she must be feeling and I look to #Dove to give us more clarity on the situation,” she added.
Following the trailer premiered last Friday, Nina Lee called attention to the similarities between Waithe’s work and her own and acknowledged that the storyline was the same. Lee’s project, also titled The Girls Room, was created in 2017. “I made a lot of mistakes when it came to this show. Mistakes I can still feel. And I wish I knew then what I know now. We were young and didn’t know what we had on our hands. But thanks everyone involved! I’ve written 4 shows since then so if you’re an investor holla at me,” she tweeted.
Dove, which has partnered with Waithe on the show, issued a statement to TheGrio, saying: “Dove started working on Girls Room with our partners in early 2017, and we’re proud to have teamed up with ATTN: and Lena Waithe to bring the vision to life. The name of the series was developed before Lena or ATTN: were added to the project and was selected because our scenes mainly take place in the 'Girls Room,' any similarity to other creative projects is entirely unintentional.”

Tiffany Boone Explains Leaving "The Chi" Due To Allegations Against Jason Mitchell
Actress Tiffany Boone hopped on IG to give details about her controversial exit from Lena Waithe’s Showtime series “The Chi” back in 2018.
Now that she’s gearing up to star alongside Al Pacino in Jordan Peele’s new series Hunters on Amazon Prime Video, Tiffany Boone has finally moved past her time on Showtime’s hit series The Chi which she unfortunately left under controversial circumstances. The move was influenced by shocking misconduct allegations against co-star and on-screen boyfriend Jason Mitchell, and she took a minute earlier today to speak out on that tough decision.

Spotted with all smiles alongside the rest of the cast back in January 2018 during a press tour for The Chi in Pasadena (seen above), Boone would eventually make her exit before the year was over followed by Mitchell being fired in May 2019. She reflects back on the latter incident while penning an extensive three-page note, describing that evening at her apartment in Brooklyn before all the allegations came to light in the press as “blissful ignorance.” Throughout the note, she addresses just how hard it was to leave a hit show, ultimately realizing she couldn’t compromise her morals for fame and the praise that comes with being a big-time TV star. Her note also points towards not wanting to participate in a “he said, she said” debate that may come from speaking in detail about what all went on, adding “she said, she said” in there too to signify that issues with HR and Waithe herself may have played a part as well. Overall, we’re just glad she was able to bounce back and not focus too much on the negativity.
Read Tiffany Boone’s full statement Instagram below, and make sure to catch her on Hunters starting February 21 on Amazon Prime Video. The Chi returns for a third season, minus both Boone and Jason Mitchell, on Showtime beginning July 5.

According to Bossip, Waithe was allegedly unfaithful to her wife during their short stint as a married couple. The report states that Waithe was caught on multiple occasions purchasing women expensive gifts and struggled with infidelity even after the couple's secret marriage ceremony in California. One of the sources stated:
"Even after they married, Lena was still buying designer gifts – Chanel, Gucci – for other women."
Now, it looks like Waithe has already got a new boo thang in the form of Harriet actress, Cynthia Erivo. The two are rumored to even be living with each other just days after Waithe formally announced her split from Alana Mayo.
Lena Waithe and Cynthia Erivo have publicly crossed paths on several occasions during Hollywood outings and even posed in several candid photos together. While the rumors of Erivo and Emmy Award-winning writer's relationship have yet to be verified, their interactions on social media praising each other's artistry and personas could be used as some damning evidence against the alleged couple.
If the rumors of the two dating are true, Waithe is moving pretty savagely in these streets. Check out this short clip of Lena Waithe talking about 'vibing' with Cynthia Erivo in a red carpet conversation with Variety in the video provided below.

The pair have been together for three years.
Emmy Award-winning writer, producer, and actress Lena Waithe and her longtime girlfriend Alana Mayo shared just two months ago that they’d secretly married. “We snuck and did it, you know. We didn’t really make any announcements or a big…you know,” Lena told Ellen DeGeneres. “We went to the courthouse and got married right in front of Harvey Milk’s bust,” she said of the San Fransisco City Hall wedding. “It was her idea — like all good things are — and she was just driving and she saw the courthouse and she said, ‘We should get married there,’ and I said, ‘Cool, I’m down.'”

Rihanna Interviews Lena Waithe, Skylar Diggins & More For Special Edition Magazine
Rihanna teams up with i-D for “Rihannazine”.
Rihanna is doing everything except releasing an album, but we appreciate all her creative endeavors. Her latest project is a special, limited edition issue of i-D Magazine, titled “Rihannazine”. To celebrate i-D‘s 40th anniversary, RiRi curated a “visually-driven” zine that highlights some of her biggest inspirations within various streams of culture. Some of the women photographed and interviewed for the collection are Gigi Hadid, Lena Waithe, Deanna Lawsom, Zadie Smith, Alexa Demie, Paloma Elsesser, Adwoa Aboah, Yolanda Renee King, Roxanne Gay and Vanessa ‘Vanjie’ Mateo.
Rihanna posed the same set of questions to all the ground-breakers featured in the issue, one of them being: “If you could ask Rihanna one question, what would it be?” To this, writer and actor Lena Waithe replied, “I kind of want to ask, ‘What are you afraid of?'” Recording artist Kelela kind of skirted the question: “What I’d just say to her is, ‘Thank you.'” Basketball star Skylar Diggins wondered, “How do you balance it all?”
You can pre-order a copy of “Rihannazine” if you want to learn more about her influences and get the full experience.
In other Rihanna news, she was spotted hitting it off with A$AP Rocky, just a few days after her reported breakup with Hassan Jameel.
