Protests have continued to erupt throughout the United States following the police killing of George Floyd. People are rightfully outraged about this atrocity and it's clear that the population has had enough of the police brutality that has plagued the country for years. Now, citizens are standing up and exercising their right to protest. As you can imagine, these protests have been met with resistance and a large police presence.
Last night, protesters took to the streets in Washington, D.C. and many got dangerously close to the White House. The Secret Service was so scared of what could happen that they put the White House under lockdown where many reporters and personnel were stuck for quite some time. Eventually, the lockdown was lifted and people were finally able to exit the premises.
Protests continued throughout the night and cities all across the country are trying to deal with the fallout. Properties have been destroyed, people have been injured and countless others have been arrested. It all makes for some truly disturbing scenes although you can't help but feel like the country is experiencing a massive historical moment.
Stay tuned for all of the updates regarding this story as we will be sure to bring them to you.
Donald Trump Reacts To Last Night’s Protests & White House Lockdown
Donald Trump was in lockdown at the White House yesterday amid protests.
Protests have been festering all across the country over the last couple of days and tensions are certainly high. Of course, these protests are a direct result of the killing of George Floyd who was essentially stranged by a police officer. Last night, protests got pretty interesting in Washington, D.C., so much so that the entire White House had to be put on lockdown.
President Donald Trump was being protected by an army of Secret Service agents and this morning, the President took to Twitter where he had quite a bit of praise for his Secret Service. Trump explained that his agents were ready for anything that came his way and even spoke about their weaponry.
Per President Trump:
"They were not only totally professional, but very cool. I was inside, watched every move, and couldn’t have felt more safe. They let the “protesters” scream & rant as much as they wanted, but whenever someone ot too frisky or out of line, they would quickly come down on them, hard - didn’t know what hit them. The front line was replaced with fresh agents, like magic. Big crowd, professionally organized, but nobody came close to breaching the fence."
Once again, Trump is threatening violence upon those who might step out of line and we can't help but be concerned for the protesters out there. It's a dangerous scene right now and we hope those standing up for themselves stay safe.
Conor McGregor Urges Ireland To Lockdown Amid Coronavirus Scare
Conor McGregor is the latest celebrity urging for people to take the Coronavirus threat seriously.
It feels as though the entire world has shut down due to the Coronavirus. Over 400,000 people across the globe have contracted it and that number will most likely go up to over a million by the end of the month. This is a public health crisis like no other and people are worried about what will happen next. Many countries are going on lockdown and now, Conor McGregor is demanding that his native Ireland do the exact same thing.
McGregor took to IGTV where he had a message for all of his followers. Just last week, we reported on how McGregor believes his aunt died due to the virus. With this in mind, the UFC legend is taking the threat very seriously and wants to make sure people are aware of the risks.
View this post on Instagram"While we are currently debating a full lockdown, I feel that we must! Any time spent debating this is needless time from the clock," McGregor said. "Let's get it together and ring the bell ourselves."
The Coronavirus pandemic has led to closures of numerous sports leagues around the globe although for now, the UFC is still putting on shows. In fact, Dana White is promising that the fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson is still going to happen.
Hopefully, McGregor's message will be heard loud and clear by those in charge.
