See How Quickly Calvin Harris Makes An Average Person's Salary
Big-time musicians make bank. But how do their incomes compare to average salaries? Beyond eclipsing most salaries, musician income data may surprise you.
Magnetic Mag took the challenge to see how quickly the highest paid musicians in 2017 make an average salary. The publication took average salaries from five jobs:
- Truck drivers – $41,340/year
- Elementary school teachers – $59,020/year
- Registered nurses – $68,450/year
- Real estate brokers – $79,340/year
- Software developers – $100,080/year
Then, they compared those salaries to musician incomes to see how quickly those musicians earned those salaries. Plot twist: the sampled musicians made the above salaries incredibly quickly. For example, Calvin Harris would make the average truck driver’s salary in 2 hours and 43 minutes. The Chainsmokers make an average real estate broker’s salary in 18 hours and 17 minutes. Tiësto makes an average software developer’s pretty great $100k salary in a little less than a day.

FKA Twigs Stars In Trippy New Commercial For Apple's HomePod
FKA Twigs broke out from independent music circles to captivate a larger, more mainstream audience with her warped and utterly contemporary take on pop and R&B. This elevated platform has given the British songstress a more easily-recognizable presence, which has in Twigs being tapped by major companies to hawk their products international advertisement campaigns.
The "Two Weeks" singer has lent her face and dancing acumen to Google for their Google Glass product, as well as legendary sportswear brand Nike.
In this Spike Jonze-directed clip, Twigs tones down her afruturist aesthetic in favour more modest threads, simply wearing a white long-sleeved tee and a pair hip-hugging jeans. The premise the clip is quite simple, Twigs is depicted as a working woman whose life appears to be pretty monotonous and banal. Upon returning home from work, she instructs Siri to play a song that she likes, which prompts the HomePod to begin blasting a new Anderson .Paak track called "'Til It's Over."
As Twigs begins to inhabit the song's groove and dance around her apartment, her living space begins to shape shift and expand into a surreal dance floor. The singer/dancer even becomes a duplicate for a brief segment, transforming her life's mundanity into something more exciting and dreamlike.
