There have been rumors circulating about a possible trade involving Odell Beckham Jr., but Browns general manager John Dorsey took the time to dispell it as untrue. He told ESPN: "That's fake news." ESPN also says Dorsey claims "he has not taken any trade calls on Beckham, is not interested in taking any calls and hasn't even thought about trading him before the Oct. 29 deadline."
Over the last week, trade rumors involving Beckham have ramped up as the Browns continue to struggle. Colin Cowherd of Fox Sports has theorized that the way to fix the Browns' struggles is to trade Beckham. "I would strongly consider trading OBJ," he said on his show earlier this week. He expanded on three reasons, citing Cleveland's identity issues, the return of Kareem Hunt, and the offense's struggling offensive line. Check out his full explanation here.
In other NFL news, ESPN is also reporting that rumors of Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin heading to the Washington Redskins are unture. "I don't see Mike going to Washington," a source told the publication. "That is so far-fetched. It's so far out there. It would have to be a deal that the league never has seen before and would change the way business is done in football, and I don't see that happening."
Colin Kaepernick’s Agent Explains Situation With NFL
The statement breaks down the entire situation.
Earlier this week, Colin Kaepernick’s agent released a detailed statement with hopes to clear up any confusion about the ex-NFL player’s situation. The statement asks and answers a large number of questions fans may have. “There have been so many false narratives in the media regarding Colin, we believe it is important to set the record straight, again. Nothing below is up for interpretation or debate, it’s the truth and nothing else,” the statement begins.
The first question reads, “Is Colin still able to seek employment in the NFL after he filed a grievance?” The answer says, “Yes. Eric Ried filed the same grievance and is currently employed by an NFL team.”
Other questions include:
"Has Colin ever had a workout with an NFL team?”
"No, not a single team has brought Colin in for a workout. Seattle brought Colin in for a visit but did not work him out. Afterwards, Pete Carroll said Colin is a 'starter in this league.'"
"Have you reached out to every team on Colin's behalf?
"I have reached out to all 32 teams about Colin's employment, with little to no response from teams about an opportunity for Colin. In 25 years, I have never seen anything like it."
Check out the full statement below.
The statement ends, “In summary, it is difficult to think of another young player in NFL history with statistics and character as impressive as Colin’s and not being given an opportunity to earn a spot on an NFL roster after what he’s accomplished.”
Todd Gurley Injury Status Updated Ahead Of Rams Vs. 49ers Game
Gurley has struggled with injuries for a while now.
Todd Gurley has been considered to be one of the best running backs in the NFL over the past few seasons but this year, there have been questions as to whether or not he can continue being an effective player in the league. After suffering an injury at the tail end of last season, Gurley experienced some troubles during the playoffs and wasn't being used as often or as effectively. During the NFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl, Gurley was practically nowhere to be found and reports started to circulate that he had arthritis in his knee.
This season, Gurley has experienced more of the same as he simply hasn't been used as often. While he has shown some flashes of his old brilliance, there have been times where he just doesn't look the same. This is significant as today, Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters that Gurley is currently day-to-day with a quad injury and didn't practice today.
There are no guarantees being made as to whether or not he will play this weekend but if the Rams want to win, they'll want Gurley present. The team has lost two straight games and is playing their divisional rivals, the San Francisco 49ers who just so happen to be undefeated.
Needless to say, things aren't going too well in Los Angeles.
Young Thug Shows Love To Antonio Brown With IG Endorsement
Thugger wants AB back in the league.
Antonio Brown has singlehandedly pushed himself out of the NFL and it doesn’t seem like he will be back on the field anytime soon. After blowing his opportunities with the Oakland Raiders and the New England Patriots, fans aren’t exactly sure how AB will be able to dig himself out of the hole he has created for himself. Regardless, Brown has made it evident that he wants to be back in the league sooner than later and earlier this week, Brown pled with the Patriots to let him back on the team so he can earn his money.
His request probably won’t be granted anytime soon although it’s not for a lack of trying. AB does seem to be getting some support though as he recently shared Young Thug‘s Instagram story on his own page. As you can see from the screenshot below, Thugger is endorsing Brown and wants to see him back on the Patriots.
It seems as though more and more celebrities have been coming out in support of AB which can only do wonders for his public image. When it comes to the fans, many have fallen out of favor with the star wide receiver but if there is one thing American’s love, it’s a good redemption story.
Maybe he’ll be back on the field sooner than we think.
Richard Sherman Comments On Baker Mayfield Handshake Controversy: Watch
It was all a misunderstanding.
Richard Sherman has always been one of the more vocal players in the entire NFL and right beside him in that crusade is Cleveland Browns quarterback, Baker Mayfield. The two see to have very similar personalities that tend to clash at times. This was apparent during Monday Night Football when after the game, Sherman alleged that Mayfield wouldn't shake his hand during the pre-game coin toss. Based on visual evidence of the interaction, this was most certainly not the case as you can clearly see Mayfield extend his hand.
After being called out for making false allegations, Sherman realized it was time to apologize and hit up The Pat McAfee Show to clear the air on what happened. As Sherman said, he hopes to apologize to Baker and eventually make things right.
"It's definitely my bad," Sherman said. "You know, I never want anybody to have to deal with ... some stuff that they didn't do. And, so the questions that he's gonna get and the annoying, nonsense questions about some stuff that happened in a game that's already been done, sure he'll get an apology for that."
Sherman ended up getting the last laugh in that game as his 49ers won the match by a score of 31-3. Mayfield has struggled so far this season and it's clear that he has much bigger fish to fry than a handshake.
Antonio Brown Makes His Way Back On Twitter To Reclaim His Throne
AB had some words for fantasy football owners.
No football player has elicited more of a polarizing response this season than Antonio Brown. After being released by the Oakland Raiders, Brown joined the New England Patriots and ended up being kicked out of there as well. It hasn't been a very good month for AB but regardless, he is pretty confident he is still one of the best wide receivers to ever do it. Brown has been causing some problems for the league and has even filed grievances against the Raiders and Patriots so that he can get the guaranteed money that was owed to him.
Brown will most likely find it tough to get what he wants but he doesn't seem to care all that much. After roasting the likes of Baker Mayfield and Eric Weddle on social media, AB has returned to Twitter to reclaim his throne as the best wider receiver in the sport. Brown even made an appeal to fantasy football owners, asking if they missed him.
None of these tweets suggest AB is coming back into the league anytime soon but they do indicate how aware he is of his own absence. Fantasy football owners who drafted Brown have been fairly upset this season as they don't have his production to fall back on every week. Meanwhile, Brown pled with the Patriots earlier this week, saying he wants the team to let him earn his money. Essentially, he wants a second chance although that most certainly won't happen anytime soon.
Rihanna Unaware Of Jay-Z’s NFL Deal When Making Super Bowl "Sell Out" Comments
Sources close to RihRih are trying to clear the air from potential drama.
Jay-Z’s move to work with the NFL has drawn a lot of criticism, including from people who once praised him. Although Hov and the NFL are working on entertainment and social causes together, many have pointed out that it seems far too self-serving. Jay’s also been accused of essentially turning his back on Colin Kaepernick, although Jay’s refuted that claim in the past.
Hov’s own protege, Rihanna, recently confirmed that she turned down the Super Bowl last year based on principle. She said that if she would’ve felt like a sell-out if she had taken the opportunity, especially after the amount of public support she shared for Colin Kaepernick. “I couldn’t dare do that,” she said in a recent story with Vogue. “For what? Who gains from that? Not my people,” she concluded.
However, the statements she made came days before Jay-Z announced that he’d be partnering with the NFL, according to The Blast. Sources close to Rihanna clarified that those comments were made without any knowledge of Jay-Z’s dealing with the organization. They said she had “no idea” negotiations were even happening in the first place.
Rihanna is still signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation so it seems very doubtful that she’d make that statement with any reason to shade Hov. However, one’s got to wonder whether she and Jay-Z ever spoke about it behind closed doors.
Baker Mayfield Trolled By Nick Bosa After Embarrassing Loss: Watch
It was a bad night for Baker Mayfield.
Baker Mayfield has been doing a lot of talking this season but it hasn’t exactly led to some good results. The team went into their Monday Night game against the San Francisco 49ers with a record of 2-2 and there was a lot of pressure for them to win. In the end, Mayfield wasn’t able to live up to the hype and the team eventually lost by a score of 31-3. Mayfield was a turnover machine in the game and failed to even throw a touchdown pass.
While the performance was bad enough, perhaps the most embarrassing moments involved defensive stud Nick Bosa who sacked Mayfield twice. Baker was known at Oklahoma for planting the team’s flag in the Ohia State logo. As a former Ohio state alumn, Bosa didn’t take too kindly to this and mocked the celebration after a sack. Following the game, Bosa took the 49ers’ flag and waved it proudly before walking off the field.
Bosa’s celebration was salt in the wound for Mayfield and the Browns who now have a 2-3 record this season. If they want to win the AFC North, they will have to be a lot better as the season goes on.
It certainly won’t be easy but if Mayfield can find his rhythm, perhaps the team can dig themselves out of a hole.
Stefon Diggs Has Vikings Fans On Edge After Subtle Troll: Watch
Vikings fans don't know what to make of this.
Stefon Diggs is one of the more elite wide receivers in the NFL and has been dominating the league with his play out on the field. If you're a Minnesota Vikings fan, he has been an absolute blessing to the franchise which hasn't had too much success over the last few years except for a less than stellar trip to the NFC Championship game just two years ago. Needless to say, Diggs is an exciting player that any team would want on their roster, especially if they're in need of an x-factor who can help win games.
Last week, rumors were swirling that Diggs was fed up with the Vikings and was looking for a way off of the team. He missed a practice in the middle of the week and his social media behavior led to a ton of speculation. Eventually, Diggs said that there was truth to most rumors which is a statement that had most fans convinced he wanted out. After a win against the Giants on Sunday, Diggs gave Vikings fans more reason to worry as he claimed he wanted to be in Minnesota but followed it up with a wink to the camera.
The Vikings have made it clear that they have no plans to trade Diggs but if he doesn't want to be a Viking, there aren't many options left for the franchise. If the team keeps winning, perhaps Diggs will change his mind as we all know that winning changes everything.
Needless to say, the NFL has become the NBA this season and we love to see it.
Stephen A. Smith Trolls Cowboys Fans With Hilarious Pep Talk: Watch
Smith knows how to get under the skin of Cowboys fans.
After starting the season 3-0, Dallas Cowboys fans were at peak obnoxiousness as they claimed to be the best team in the entire NFL. Dak Prescott was being heralded as the best quarterback in the league while fans thought the defense was something that couldn't be touched. Well, that turned out to not be the case as they lost to the New Orleans Saints last week by a score of 12-10. On Sunday, the Cowboys had a chance to redeem themselves although they came up short 34-24 against the Green Bay Packers.
With two losses in a row, some Cowboys fans are worried about what's in store for the team as they make their way throughout the season. ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith has always been a huge detractor of the Cowboys and made sure to rub it in the face of fans everywhere this morning. In the video below, Smith can be seen giving a sarcastic pep talk to a group of Dallas fans inside of an ESPN conference room.
The fans seem pretty devasted by the loss all while Smith continues to patronize them. The First Take host was wearing a cowboy hat the whole time and had a big goofy grin as he berated the Cowboys supporters. Of course, Smith hosted First Take with Skip Bayless for years and as you all know, Skip is a huge Cowboys apologist.
As the season goes on, we'll see who gets the last laugh between Smith and the so-called "America's Team."
