Talk about getting knocked off your high horse. On Saturday (June 6th), during a protest at Whitehall in Westminster, Central London, a police officer was riding a horse at full speed when she hit her head hard on a traffic light. The impact of the collision launched the cop into the air while the horse kept galloping along, causing the officer to smack right down on the pavement.
According to TMZ, the officer was knocked unconscious and taken to the hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Some are claiming that the police horse went rogue because protesters were throwing "missiles" at the animal. A video from the rally shows someone hucking a bike at one of the horses, although it is unclear if this is the same horse that the female officer in question was knocked off of.
Additional footage from the scene shows the same horse running loose among the protesters, and it appears to have even trampled a pedestrian.
Yikes. Maybe leave the police horses at home next time you charge into a crowd of protesters? Seems like the best way to avoid this in the future.

Barack Obama Issues Statement On Killing Of George Floyd
Barack Obama is opening up about the tragic police killing of George Floyd.
George Floyd's murder at the hands of Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin has been all over the news as of late and it has sparked widespread protests all throughout the nation. Floyd's murder was caught on camera and immediately went viral on social media. As a result, many became outraged and justifiably so. Now, Chauvin has been arrested and protests continue to manifest. Even President Donald Trump has weighed in on it all, noting that he will call in the military to stop looters, if necessary.
Now, former President Barack Obama is issuing a statement on it all and as you can imagine, he has some very poignant words that will ring true to many. Obama is deeply saddened by what is happening and urges that this must all come to an end. Too many people of color in this country feel scared to leave their homes and it's a fear that is rooted in hundreds of years of trauma.
"This shouldn't be 'normal' in 2020 America," Obama wrote. "It can't be 'normal.' If we want our children to grow up in a nation that lives up to its highest ideals, we can and must be better. [...] "Being treated differently on account of race is tragically, painfully, maddeningly 'normal' - whether it's while dealing with the health care system, or interacting with the criminal justice system, or jogging down the street, or just watching birds in the park."
It remains to be seen how this story will progress although as millions of Americans can attest, we hope to see progress sooner rather than later.
Maryland Cop Charged After Fatally Shooting Handcuffed Man In Police Car
An officer shot a handcuffed man while he was sitting in the front seat of a cop car.
An officer in Maryland is facing a second-degree murder charge after allegedly shooting a man who was handcuffed and sitting in the front seat of a police car. The incident took place in a suburb of Washington D.C. on Monday. Police were responding to a 911 call about a driver who had hit multiple cars, said Christina Cotterman, a spokeswoman for Prince George’s County Police Department, per USA Today.
When officers approached the man, they believed he smelled like PCP, so they handcuffed him, put him in the front passenger seat of the cruiser, and buckled his seat belt as they called in a drug recognition expert.
Authorities said it was standard practice for officers to place a suspect in the front passenger seat of a police car. Then, when an officer entered the driver’s seat of the car, he fired his gun multiple times.
“Two independent witnesses tell our investigators that they see a struggle or hear a struggle of some sort coming from the cruiser, and they hear loud bangs,” Cotterman said. Officers attempted to save the handcuffed man’s life, but he died in the hospital.
Later, it was announced that Corporal Michael Owen, a police officer with Prince George’s County police, had been charged with manslaughter, second-degree murder, and associated weapons charges in the killing of William Green. He reportedly shot Green 7 times, but it’s unclear what the motive was.
“I have concluded that what happened last night is a crime,” Police Chief Hank Stawinski said. There was no “reasonable explanation” for the events, he added. The investigation is still on going.
Report: Officer Who Was Slapped By Odell Beckham Jr. Will Not Press Charges
The officer has no plans to press charges.
The officer whose butt was slapped by Odell Beckham Jr. does not plan on pressing charges, according to NOLA.com.
Earlier this week, an arrest warrant was filed for Beckham after he slapped an officer following the College Football Playoff National Championship. He was in the locker room of LSU, his alma mater, which had just beaten Clemson to win the championship. The officer was warning players to stop smoking cigars inside when Beckham slapped his butt.
On Friday, the officer reportedly signed an affidavit stating he does not plan to press charges.
According to CBS, Louisiana statute 14.34.2 mandates that those guilty of simple battery of a police officer "shall be fined not more than $500 and imprisoned not less than fifteen days nor more than six months without benefit of suspension of sentence."
The Browns have released a statement regarding the situation: "We are aware of the incident and have been in contact with Odell and his representatives on the matter. They are cooperating with the proper authorities to appropriately address the situation," said a spokesperson.
Beckham was also seen handing out cash to players immediately after the game. That incident is currently under investigation by LSU, the NCAA and the SEC.
