DJ Premier shared some sad news with the world on Thursday (June 11th). The legendary producer and DJ revealed that his mother passed away earlier this week, around two years after he lost his father back in 2018. Preemo broke the news on Instagram, by sharing a photo of his own hand holding his mother's manicured hand. "My Angel Just Got Her Wings..." he wrote. "I'm So Glad I Made It Here To Say Goodbye...The Caretakers Love You So Much That They Just Did Your Nails and Feet Before Your Last Breath...That's How A Queen Gets Handled."
"I LOVE YOU MOMMA..." he continued. "91 YEARS OF LOVE...YOU DID THE DAMN THANG!DADDY IS WAITIN FOR YOU!" Preemo shared a similar mourning post when his father passed away around this time in 2018.
"A RARE BREED..." he wrote on a photo of him holding his father's hand. "YOU WAITED FOR US AND YOU TOOK YOUR LAST BREATH PEACEFULLY IN YOUR OWN HOME THE WAY YOU WANTED... GLAD WE WERE HERE IN THE HOUSE TO SEE YOU GET YOUR WINGS... LOVE YOU DAD! R.I.P."

Hip Hop Journalist & Screenwriter Jas Waters AKA JasFly Passes Away
May she rest in power.
The celebrated TV writer, director, journalist and television personality Jas Waters, also known as JasFly, has passed away at the age of 39.
While the cause of death is still unknown at the time, close friends of Waters shared the news of her death on Wednesday. Waters was born Jasmine Waters in Illinois, and later graduated from Columbia College Chicago. At the time of the of her passing, she was living in Los Angeles where she worked on TV shows for various networks including VH-1, Comedy Central, and Showtime. Most notably, Waters has worked on This Is Us, Spiderman 1 & 2, Hardball, Save the Last Dance, MTV’s Real World, and Barbershop 1 & 2.

Waters’ contribution to journalism was also profound, she created and ran her own entertainment blog for three years that averaged 700,000 views a day. She was one of the most recognizable women in hip hop when the blog scene was first starting. Additionally, Waters was offered her own column in VIBE Magazine in 2013.
Social media was immediately flooded with tributes to the beloved powerhouse, shocked at the devastating news. Longtime friend and fellow writer Sade Sellers confirmed the news on her own Twitter account, writing, “Absolutely devastated to confirm @JasFly‘s passing. She was such a light. Offered me advice about writing so many times— prayers to her family.”

NBC Staff Member Dies After Contracting Coronavirus
A longtime NBC News employee, Larry Edgeworth, passed away after testing positive for coronavirus.
Larry Edgeworth, a former audio technician for the NBC News network, passed away this week after he tested positive for coronavirus. According to Page Six, NBC Chairman Andy Lack told the network’s staff in a memo on Friday that the “longtime member of our NBC News family” had died after contracting COVID-19. However, Andy specified that Larry had “suffered from other health issues that led him to succumb to the illness.”

“Many of you were fortunate enough to work with Larry over the years,” Andy wrote. “So you know that he was the guy you wanted by your side no matter where you were.” In the memo, Andy also added that Stacy Brady, Executive Vice President & General Manager of News Field & Production Operations at NBC, says that Larry “was known as the ‘gentle giant who would give you the shirt off his back.’” Savannah Guthrie, the main co-anchor of the NBC News morning show Today who has been broadcasting from her basement amid the coronavirus pandemic, wrote a touching tribute to Larry on Instagram.
“My heart breaks this morning at the loss of NBC audio technician Larry Edgeworth (pictured right) due to COVID19,” she wrote. “I adored Larry. We traveled together for two straight months on a campaign in 2008 and he was always the most warm, most professional, most loving. All hours of the day and night, no matter how hungry or tired or stressed we were – he was always a joy. He loved his work and excelled at it. He loved his colleagues and boy did we love him. Larry, dear, I will miss you. My deepest condolences and prayers to his family.” Al Roker, the weather anchor on NBC’s Today who has also been working from home, paid tribute to Larry with a heartfelt post on Instagram, as well.
“Larry Edgeworth was a giant both physically and emotionally,” he wrote. “You were always in good hands when he was on your crew. He would always ask about Nick and losing him to underlying health issues exacerbated by Covid-19 is devastating. Thoughts and prayers to his wife and two sons. Our @nbcnews family has lost a consummate professional and a friend.”
The Weeknd Dedicates "After Hours" To Superfan Who Died
The Weeknd dedicated his new album, "After Hours," to one of his longtime fans, Lance, who recently passed away.
The Weeknd honoured the memory of one of his OG supporters, Lance, by dedicating his brand new album, After Hours, to the late fan. The artist's highly anticipated album—his first in four years—arrived at midnight on Friday, much to the thrill of his massive fanbase. However, After Hours' release is twinged with sadness, as one of The Weeknd's most diehard fans tragically passed away before he was able to hear it. Lance, who ran the "XO Podcast" and the Twitter account @TheXOPodcast2, died only a few days before After Hours dropped. Lance was a longtime supporter of The Weeknd's and one of his most dedicated fans. The Weeknd learned of the devastating news on Thursday afternoon, after Lance's girlfriend tweeted an emotional message regarding his passing, in which she thanked the artist for everything he'd done for Lance.
"He always talked about how Abel saved him from so many dark places," she wrote. "Lance had a genuine respect for Abel it literally breaks my heart he passed away the same week After Hours is coming out.” Upon learning of Lance's passing, The Weeknd decided to dedicate After Hours to him.
"RIP LANCE aka XOPODCAST," he tweeted. "You were one of the true original backbones of my XO fan base. Can’t believe i’m finding out about this today. I’m dedicating After Hours to you, my friend." Another XO artist, Belly, also paid tribute to Lance.

Floyd Mayweather’s Uncle, Roger Mayweather, Dead At 58
R.I.P to the boxing legend.
According to a report from TMZ, Floyd Mayweather’s uncle, Roger Mayweather, has sadly passed away at the age of 58.
Its unclear at the moment as for what the cause of his death was, but it’s been known that Roger had been in declining health for years. In fact, Floyd opened up about Roger’s health back in 2015 and blamed boxing for damaging his brain. “My uncle Roger Mayweather has lost a lot of memory from the sport of boxing,” Floyd said … “He’s only in his 50s, but it seems like he’s an old man in his 80s.”

Roger Mayweather competed as a professional boxer between 1981 and 1999, when he retired to serve as a trainer to his nephew. Throughout his career, Roger won 59 of his 72 professional fights, winning the WBA super-featherweight world title and WBC light-welterweight world title among other distinctions

Conor McGregor Reveals His Aunt Passed Away Possibly From Coronavirus
Conor McGregor reveals that his aunt passed away, and he suggests coronavirus may have been the cause.
Conor McGregor took to Instagram Friday night to voice his concerns over coronavirus and in the process he suggested that his aunt may have died from its effects.
McGregor said he was about to appear on US TV when he was told his “lovely little auntie Anne had passed away”. He added: “I couldn’t go live anymore. My poor little friendly loving auntie. This stupid virus. What is happening?” he added. While he doesn’t confirm that it was the coronavirus that killed his aunt, he certainly suggests it.
Before all that however, McGregor left a long caption, reflecting on his own personal hygiene and his country of Ireland. “Ireland you amazing, amazing country. I believe we have this virus contained. And through this containment, we actually may have gone and contained them all. The good habits we will have now gained from this wild covid-19 attack will see us too strong in future.” See his post (below).
According to reports, there are now more than 100 cases of Covid-19 on the island of Ireland. The first death linked to coronavirus in Ireland – involving an elderly woman with underlying health conditions – was announced on Wednesday. We’ll continue to keep you posted.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson’s Emotional Tribute To His Father
RIP Rocky Johnson.
This past week, the wrestling community was struck by strategy as it was revealed that legend Rocky Johnson had passed away. Johnson is the father of Dwayne The Rock Johnson and was an inspiration to wrestlers around the world. Numerous wrestlers have since reacted to the news of Johnson’s passing and have sent plenty of condolences “The Rock’s” way.
Today, Johnson took to Instagram where he spoke about his father’s passing and how much his dad means to him. The post was quite emotional and contained a nice tribute. Johnson talked about some of the memories he had of his father and how his dad was able to inspire a whole generation of wrestlers.
“I love you. You broke color barriers, became a ring legend and trail blazed your way thru this world. I was the boy sitting in the seats, watching and adoring you, my hero from afar,” Johnson wrote. “You lived a very full, very hard, barrier-breaking life and left it all in the ring. I love you dad and I’ll always be your proud and grateful son. Go rest high.”
Losing a loved one can never be easy but Johnson’s memory will forever live on. RIP to a legend.
Lil Wayne Pays Tribute To 5th Ward Weebie
“RIP to a true New Orleans legend,” – Lil Wayne.
Lil Wayne has decided to pay tribute to the life of 5th Ward Weebie, who tragically passed away this week after suffering from heart failure. In the wake of his death, Weezy decided to pen an emotional tribute to the New Orleans bounce icon on IG yesterday. “Still haven’t been able to find to words to express how I feel,” Weezy posted on Instagram alongside a photo of Weebie. “RIP to a true New Orleans legend @5thwardweebie.”
Weebie, who released his debut album Show the World in 1999, was a pioneer of the bounce movement with songs like “Let Me Find Out” and “Fuck Katrina,” which was released in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. He collaborated with Drake on “Nice for What” as well as Lil Wayne on “Bend It Ova,” and performed at Lil WeezyAna Fest in 2015.
New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell released a statement following his passing. “He was an iconic personality, a New Orleans legend, and a beloved friend,” said Cantrell. “He was the Bounce King, who showed us how to move, how to love, and how to bring passion and humanity to everything we do. New Orleans has lost a cornerstone of our culture. Our City will not be the same without his voice and his spirit.”
Weebie, born Jerome Cosey, was just 42 years young. RIP.
Another Iconic Drum n Bass Founding DJ Has Just Passed Away
Drum & bass artist Edward Holmes, more popularly known as Optiv, part of the group Cause4Concern, has passed away. News of his passing spread throughout the drum & bass community early yesterday morning.
The cause of death hasn’t been made known as of yet, but his legacy in the scene is known to all including pillars like The Prototypes, Phace and Andy C.

Can’t even believe I’m having to write this but as many of you will already know by now it’s with great sadness that we have to announce that our beloved brother/friend Edward Holmes a.k.a Optiv has been tragically taken away from us over the weekend.
As you can imagine, this has come as a total shock to us and many of you that are reading this at the moment.
His output over the past 20 years has reached worldwide and his imprint will live on forever. He was a true pioneer to his craft.
A hugely respected human who was taken away from us far too soon.
