The accessibility of social media means that all celebrities can be inundated by their fans, 24/7. They may not take the time to reply and check every single comment or message, but the fact remains that any fan can send a comment or message directly to their favorite celebrity whenever they please-- whether it's good or bad.
There are some artists who choose to engage more often with their fans. Lupe Fiasco appears to be one of them. The rapper decided to reveal one of the many DMs he receives daily, which was in fact, a negative DM. Lupe took a different approach in his response to the upset fan-- he not only offered his "acknowledgment" directly on an Instagram post, but he hit the booth and recorded a full-on song over Eminem's "Stan" instrumental.
The fan wrote to Lupe, "Damn man. We the fans made u rich and u don’t even have decency to acknowledge us, that’s so wrong man. ur doing it wrong." After screenshoting the message and sharing it on IG, as you can see below, and then he elaborates further on this idea that it's the fans who've made him (or any artist) rich by exposing misinformation in the "Stan" freestyle.
"I mean Pat, I think you gotta understand / I'm just a regular person / I'm just a man / I know you like a fan and felt / you did a lot for me / but I had something to do with writing raps / right, possibly? / I mean I did a lot to get to where I am / a lot of sacrifice to have someone like you as a fan / And this ain't easy, the record labels are greazy / Even with all of that / I don't want to downplay your role / Believe me," he raps.
He continues: "The last thing you wanna hear is some fan saying that you made me / Or that you pay my bill," Lupe continues. "You pay like $10 to keep it real / if you bought every album that would probably be like 50 or 60 / if you did a show, that's another 35 / that's less than $100, that's not enough to keep us alive / and I don't wanna downplay your input / or your financial transactions to get us where we are / but there's more to our job than just pretending to be a star."

Eminem is selling an exclusive new hoodie for the “Marshall Mathers LP” anniversary.
The Marshall Mathers LP, the third studio album from legendary rapper Eminem, was released twenty years ago this week and, to celebrate, the Detroit star dropped his phone number for fans to interact with him. In addition to that, he’s also rolling out a brand new merch offering, including a hoodie that commemorates the 20-year release of “Stan.”
Nowadays, the term has been adopted by super-fans of recording artists but, originally, Stan was just the name of one of Eminem’s most devoted supporters. He did everything to be like the rapper, writing him letters, dyeing his hair blonde, and lining the walls of his room with photos of Marshall. The song is one of his most popular joints ever and, today, he’s unveiling some new apparel for his very own stans.
“I’m in the live chat for #MMLP20 tomorrow at 3 PM ET and we’re droppin this hoodie for the Stans,” wrote Slim Shady on the ‘gram. “Text my number to get first access and an update on the live chat 313-666-7440.”
The black hoodie has large contrasting lettering going across the torso and spelling out “STAN”, with the words “Sincerely Yours” and an anniversary celebration just above the pocket. On the sleeve, there is a small red block of lyrics.

Eminem Invites Stans To Text Him
Ahead of the “Marshall Mathers LP” listening session, Eminem invites fans and Stans alike to hit his line with messages.
And to think, the titular Stan once thought to call Eminem “Mr. I’m-Too-Good-to-Call-Or-Write-My-Fans.” How the tables have turned, as Eminem has recently launched a new campaign to directly interact with his listeners. Today, Em has doubled down on the initiative, taking to Instagram to once again invite fans to reach out and message him at the number “313-666-7440,” which can be done right here.

“Dear Stan, I meant to write you sooner, but I just been busy,” he writes, alluding to the classic track that went on to spark a “Stan” movement. “Text me, ill hit you back.” For those unaware, Em actually kicked this movement off in honor of the Marshall Mathers LP’s 20th anniversary, which transpired on May 23rd. That’s not the only fan interaction he’s got planned; this Wednesday, he’ll also be attending an online listening session for the Marshal Mathers LP, where he’ll be engaging in a Q&A with those in attendance.
Given that Em is one of the biggest artists in the world, it’s hard to imagine he’ll be able to directly correspond to every message. Yet you won’t know until you try, so channel your inner Stan and get to jotting. Are you planning on firing off some thoughts to Slim Shady?
Lil Nas X Finally Admits To Being A Nicki Minaj Stan
Lil Nas X reveals that he is, indeed, a big fan of Nicki Minaj after being rumored to run a fan account in her name.
Ever since his rise to the top of the charts with "Old Town Road," viral superstar Lil Nas X has been rumored to be the owner of a former Nicki Minaj fan account, operating @NasMaraj on Twitter. He has denied that fact but now, it seems like he's finally come to terms with his preferences, finally being comfortable enough in his own skin and telling the world that he is a Nicki Minaj stan.
Taking to Twitter in the middle of the night, Lil Nas X admitted that he is a big fan of the Queens rapper.
"Life is too short to pretend you’re not a barb," wrote the rapper on Twitter, earning over 18,000 retweets so far. Clearly, people are excited about the reveal.
Considering the fact that he collaborated with Cardi B on his last project, some fans assumed that he was shading the rapper by siding with Nicki in their neverending feud. He insisted that that was not the case.
"They are both dope successful artists who still have so much potential. & i’m so thankful cardi hopped on rodeo. also i don’t shade ppl, only positivity here," he wrote, clarifying his stance.
It only took a full year for Lil Nas X to work up the courage to reveal his love for Nicki Minaj but the fans are happy it finally came out.
