Waka Flocka is not down with folks looting establishments as they protest police brutality in the wake of the murder of George Floyd by officers in Minneapolis. Plenty of protestors have taken to the streets to fight for justice after footage of George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, being suffocated to death by Officer Derek Chauvin began circulating earlier this week. Many protestors have engaged in looting to show their outrage, but not everybody agrees that this act as the correct way to protest.

On Thursday (May 28th), Waka Flocka took to Instagram to encourage protestors to use a different approach. “Why trash your neighborhoods?” he wrote. “Looting is not justice that’s criminal. Stay on task!!”

However, the following morning, Waka posted a follow-up statement on his Instagram story. “Somebody told me it’s easy to say stop looting from the top of the food chain..” he wrote. “That hit my heart different!! I understand fully.”

Waka’s not the only rapper that has shared their opinions on looting. On Friday (May 29th), Cardi B shared a statement with her followers, explaining that looting is the result of a community that is “tired” of trying to be peaceful in the face of violence. “This is what people have to resort to,” she said.
